The West Snyder chapter was formed three years ago from the chapter at Beaver Vocational High School. Since then there have been many awards received by students at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show and in various contests conducted throughout the SUN district. The foundation upon which the F.F.A. organization is built, includes leadership and character development, sportsmanship, co- operation, service, thrift, scholarship, improved agriculture, organized recreation citizenship and patriotism. 85

An na Marie Bilger The Future Homemakers of America's main goal is, To help individuals, improve personal, family, and community living. The Chapter deals with three kinds of projects. They are National, State and Local. Chapter learn- ing experiences should bring members satisfaction and enjoyment, contribute to the growth of the members in regard to understanding abilities and for appreciations. Activities of the F.N.A. have included atour of the Lewistown Hospital, and nurses from the Lewistown Hospital have attended some of the F.N.A. meetings to speak about nursing as a career. Kay Wagner The objectives of the Science Club are to develop interest in science, to provide opportunities in science beyond regular classes, to develop hobbies, and to give vocational guidance. To be a member of this organization, one must be an academic senior high school student with B grades in science, or be accepted by the club's voting. The Science Club sold candles and candle ensembles to earn money for a project which will be de- termined at a later date. It is instrumental in urging science students to participate in local, county, and Susquehanna Valley Science Fairs.
