Group pictures and club pictures for the yearbook were taken throughout Novem- ber. The seniors' individual pictures were taken on November 7th, 8th, and 9th, 1955. Our proofs were received on November 21st. The finished pictures arrived early in the spring. The McClure Senior's play Cupid In Pigtails was presented on November 18th and 19th. It was directed by Mr. Merrill Peters. The Beaver play entitled Finders Creepers was directed by Mrs. Emerrene Bailey and took place on November 25th and 26th. A yuletide supper sponsored by the class was held in the McClure Fire Hall on December 10th. This delicious meal consisted of chicken and all the holiday trimmings. The Christmas vacation began on December 23rd and extended until January 3rd. Members from our class attended District Band which was held from January 2nd to 4th in Philipsburg. ' February 10th found us in the new building. At first, we were confused, but gradu- ally things began to function smoothly. The District Forensics were held from March 23rd to 24th. Musical groups as well as individuals from our school competed in these events. Several seniors took part in the District Chorus held on March 15th, 16th, and 17th in Coalport. The juniors presented their class play on April 13th and 14-th, 1956. The second annual West Snyder Junior-Senior Prom was held on April 27th in the gym of our school. Many students turned out for this event and everyone had a good time. May Day celebrations were held on May 4-th. This old traditional ceremony was high-lighted by the presence of a lovely queen and her court. All choral groups took part in the Spring Music Festival on the 18th of May. The band also performed at this concert. Washington, D. C., was the scene of the seniors' three-day class trip during May. We had a wonderful time sight-seeing in our Nation's capital and nearby historical sites. Treasured memories of this excursion will live in our minds long after our youth is gone. All members of the student body motored to Rolling Green Park on May 24-th for the school picnic. This was our last get-together with the under-classmen, and we had a grand time. Class night was celebrated by the class on May 25th. At this time we relived our years in high school and brought back to life many of our pranks of early years. Our impressive baccalaureate service was held on May 27th. Local ministers had charge of the program. Commencement was held on May 29th at eight o'clock in the high school auditor- ium. Here the members of the class took their last walk together.

Class History The class of fifty-six of West Snyder High School held its first class meeting on October 14, 1954. We met to discuss plans about purchasing a class ring. It was decided that we pick a standard ring. After the meeting, the class went on a hayride, and we all had a good time. In the weeks following this meeting, a committee was kept quite busy meeting sales- men and inspecting different ring designs. Mountaineers had been the name chosen for athletic teams and we carried out this theme in our ring by selecting a shank fea- turing a mountaineer with a corn-cob pipe, on both sides of the ring. We ordered our rings late in the fall, and we received them on May 17, 1955. The two junior class plays were held on April 14th and 15th, and April 21st and 22nd respectively. The Beaver production Deadly Ernest was directed by Mrs. Emer- rene Bailey. The McClure play, You Canlt Kiss Caroline was under the direction of Mr. Merrill Peters. Both plays were successes and all members of the casts received many fine compliments for their performances. The McClure High School gym was the site of the very lovely Junior-Senior Prom, which was held on April 29, 1955. The gym was decorated as a supper club in colors of the rainbow and dubbed the Rainbow Room. William Coleman and his all girl band furnished music for dancing. We feel that this was the nicest prom ever held here until now, and none of us shall forget this gala event. May Day celebrations were held at Beaver and McClure with large crowds attend- ing on May 5th and 6th, 1955. Patsy Hetrick and Arlene Snook were the queens at the respective ceremonies. The annual band concert was held on May 20th, 1955. We started our last year of school on September 6, 1955, with a total of sixty-eight members. Class officers for the year included Dallas Will, David Bailey, presidents, Paul Say- lor, David Snook, vice presidents, Donna Hackenberg, Marlene Grim, secretariesg and Darwin Snook, Glenda Wagner, treasurers. Senior class advisors! were Mr. Merrill Peters and Mr. Moris Quint. We had a refreshment stand at the Beaver Fair, which was held from September 21st to 24-th, 1956. The class made out quite well considering the rainy weather. The yearbook staff was elected in October and the group began working on its project. Our student council representatives were Terry Herbster, Marlene Grim, David Snook, Lola Rigel, and Darwin Snook. Lola Rigel and Donna Hackenberg were chosen to receive the D. A. R. award.
