Class History The class of fifty-six of West Snyder High School held its first class meeting on October 14, 1954. We met to discuss plans about purchasing a class ring. It was decided that we pick a standard ring. After the meeting, the class went on a hayride, and we all had a good time. In the weeks following this meeting, a committee was kept quite busy meeting sales- men and inspecting different ring designs. Mountaineers had been the name chosen for athletic teams and we carried out this theme in our ring by selecting a shank fea- turing a mountaineer with a corn-cob pipe, on both sides of the ring. We ordered our rings late in the fall, and we received them on May 17, 1955. The two junior class plays were held on April 14th and 15th, and April 21st and 22nd respectively. The Beaver production Deadly Ernest was directed by Mrs. Emer- rene Bailey. The McClure play, You Canlt Kiss Caroline was under the direction of Mr. Merrill Peters. Both plays were successes and all members of the casts received many fine compliments for their performances. The McClure High School gym was the site of the very lovely Junior-Senior Prom, which was held on April 29, 1955. The gym was decorated as a supper club in colors of the rainbow and dubbed the Rainbow Room. William Coleman and his all girl band furnished music for dancing. We feel that this was the nicest prom ever held here until now, and none of us shall forget this gala event. May Day celebrations were held at Beaver and McClure with large crowds attend- ing on May 5th and 6th, 1955. Patsy Hetrick and Arlene Snook were the queens at the respective ceremonies. The annual band concert was held on May 20th, 1955. We started our last year of school on September 6, 1955, with a total of sixty-eight members. Class officers for the year included Dallas Will, David Bailey, presidents, Paul Say- lor, David Snook, vice presidents, Donna Hackenberg, Marlene Grim, secretariesg and Darwin Snook, Glenda Wagner, treasurers. Senior class advisors! were Mr. Merrill Peters and Mr. Moris Quint. We had a refreshment stand at the Beaver Fair, which was held from September 21st to 24-th, 1956. The class made out quite well considering the rainy weather. The yearbook staff was elected in October and the group began working on its project. Our student council representatives were Terry Herbster, Marlene Grim, David Snook, Lola Rigel, and Darwin Snook. Lola Rigel and Donna Hackenberg were chosen to receive the D. A. R. award.
