In 1970 as freshmen, we entered West Side High School. We were greeted by MRS. HELEN MEANS who was a counselor for an extremely large volume of stu- dents. Yet, she prepared us for the strenuous years ahead by taking our young minds and molding them into intelligent and mature young people. Each year was more dif- ficult than the preceding year, but as we approached each new problem, we were not alone. Mrs. Means was there to assist in all ways possible. During the four years of our association with her, we have interchanged countless ideas and beliefs. There were many times when she gave up her lunch or came in early or stayed after school to have a conference with a student. We all know that she is not one who is ever lost for words. Her words are always very meaningful and we have not only learned to respect her but to accept her as very dear friend whom we love. We now leave West Side High to embark on this demanding society, but we are prepared to overcome many obstacles because of the guidance of Mrs. Means. I here- fore, we the Graduating Class of 1974, would like to thank you, Mrs. Means, by dedi- cating this yearbook to you. Love, [he Class of 74

APPRECIATION We, the Class of Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-four, wish to express our pro- found appreciation to MR. KENNETH WATERS, JR., Chairman of the Board of West Side High School. Mr. Waters has served the students of West Side for many years as a teacher and recently as an administrator in a proficient and confident man- ner. With his innovative leadership, West Side has emerged from mediocrity to a school of promise and faith in its future. The Class is deeply grateful and wishes him a long and pleasant fulfillment of his fine endeavors.
