Eestetner After a year's absences from the presses, the Westerner returned to the school under the guidance of Mrs. Zuercher. Four issues were published, one during the first semester and three dur- ing the second. The staff also published a column in the Times- Gazette. This weekly column has gained a wide popularity through its humorous anecdotes, serious editorials, poems, and grade and high school news. The staff consisted of those volunteers who wished to contri- bute original writing. During the second semester, a rotating editor- ship evolved with each week a different class contributing the entire publication. fans' librarians Student Librarians: Dorene Runkel, Helen Colvin, Mary Crawford, Arlene Hines, Gretchen Haber, Pat Murphy, Carol MacDougal, Barbara Patterson, Carolyn Fraze, Tom Buger, Ida Mae Grimes, Marry Sutton, Patsy Welch, Librarian--Mrs. Zuercher, Diane Reeves, and Patty Wright. We have enough librarians that we are able to have the high school library open every period during the day. The librarians are kept busy checking books in and out and in keeping the library dusted and in order. Several students are learning book repairing. Librarians are selected from all high school grades and work very well together. Our librarian, Mrs. Zuercher, is adding a pamphlet and clipping file to our other library resources. This year we have added many interesting books to our collection. Students have shown their interest by keeping many of our books, factual as well as fiction, in constant circulation.
