rupbetp We are happy to bring you the first round the world telecast of the premiere of the colossal film, The Inlaw . Narrating this stupendous event is the good-natured, jovial MC of the air waves, Burdette Westfall. Come in--Burdette! Ladies' and gentlemen, it's a gala, colorful sight here in front of Lahey's Mammoth Theatre. The celebrities are now passing in colorful review before the ticket sales- girl, Carol Skiver. Awaiting the celebrities at the door is head usher, James Altic, looking very trim in his red and grey uniform. The first celebrity to pass before the television camera is Rear General Perry Blankley just returned from his campaign in Lower Slobovia. Alighting from a swanky limousine, whom do we find but Dean of Vassar, Monsieur Donald Gullett, accompanied by literary critic, Frank Hoffman. They are escorting two voluptious leading ladies of recent musicals, Marcia Jo Gettinger and Beverly Stilts. Producer of this extravanganze, multi-millionaire Jerold Harter has just arrived. He has brought with him Bill Bower, the new head of the art department at Walt Disney studio. Stepping inside the foyer, we overhear Rheta Bruss, Colleen Clear, Jule Jenkens, and Betty Hufford, four modern Florence Nightingales, discussing the latest hat creation of Messieur Jan de Reishe'. Sitting in the front row of the balcony are playgirls Carol Stein and Ellen Sutton, busily throwing pop corn at all the bald heads in the downstairs audience. Not again! Our view is blocked by an elaborate hair-do directly in front of us. We should have know! It is Larie Moore with one of her original hair stylings. Lena Crouse and Joyce Midlam, head beauticians are with her. Striking up the overture inthe orchestra pit is Barbara Baker, directing the Sing-Sing state band. Rushing in at the last minute is the owner of the restaurant, The Brown Bonnet, Doris Brown. Patricia Whistler, head hostess, is with her. But before the curtain rises, let us pause for a brief message from our sponsor. By special request tonight we have two outstanding TV artists, Gretchen Haber and Shirlee Lees, to present the commercial. At last the big moment arrives! Here are the stars--Anne Swarthart Lynch and Vance Valentino McCarter. But who is that standing in the wings ? None other than head prompter, Marilyn Brown. After the premier itself, which of course we cannot televise, the crowds start rolling out of the aisles on their way to their respective homes. We will now close the program with a farwell to you in seventy-two.

To begin the year, we elected for Class officers, Carl Webster, President, Gene Wise, Vice- President, Toni Tipple, Secretary, Emma Schilling, later replaced by Joan Teaford, Treasurer, and Robert Fulk, Student Council member. The Class has had the assistance of Miss Brady, the sponsor, and of Sophomore Room Mothersz Mrs. Anders, Mrs. Resor, and Mrs. Buckingham. At the beginning of the year we received our Class sweaters. We ordered our Class rings in April. Several of the boys in the Class have been very active in athletics. We have four boys on the Wildcat team: Dick Whistler, David Hufford, Keith Brown, and Gene Wise. We also have two on the Kitten team: Pat Dillon and Robert Ryan. All of the boys were in Intramural. There were six in baseball and three in bowling. The girls have also been in many activities including G.A.A., Bowling, Girls' Glee Club, and the Westerner. Both boys and girls are in Band and Orchestra. In January our Class gave a Snow Ball for the annual Sophomore party. The girls' Triple Trio made a first appearance at this event. Later we plan to sponsor a bake sale and to present two one-act plays under the direction of Mr. Isaacs.
