op omore ACflU7f7UQS XYe are the class of '45-the largest class now in school. In selecting our subjects. all titty of us are taking the required Eng- lish. Some are pursuing the academic course: some prefer the business course: and others are getting in on the practical side with home economics and shop. Sixteen of us are in the band and orchestra. XYe can also add that the drum major-Bob Turner-is a member of our Sophomore Class. Most of us are taking physical education. The boys play basketball and the girls play Indian kickball, ring tennis, and basketball. bl. C. Lyons, Bob I-luffer, Bob Turner, l'hil XN'hitesel, Roger Dye, Hob Rosenbush, and Gene Bennett are on the basketball squad. NYe feel that our Kittens will go places when they become Wildcats Along with basketball, we must mention that Sophomores -lanet Kantner and jean Frazier are two of the school's cheer leaders, XYe have elected Gene Bennett, l.ois Lantz, and hlanet Kantner to the Student Council. It is evident that we have felt some eilects from the war. Several of our boys are taking on war jobs. NVQ know that we are an up-and-coming class in Union City High School. -Joan Haber Itm. Some of us are taking an academic or husincss course, while others are enrolled in the industrial or the home economic courses. Our class has entered enthusiastically into all high school activities. 'We elected Betty XYallick and lfarl Brown to represent our class on the Stud- ent Council, 'liom Marker is the freshmen member of the Bachelors' Club and the Athletic Council. Ruth Heaty and Mary XYilson, members of our class, are on the staff of the XYesterner . Dick Cotter. Earl Brown, Tom Marker, and LeRoy Stcntzel are the freshmen on the second team haslcethall squad. Most of the freshmen hoys take part in the lntra-Mural Sports Pro- gram. Our class is well represented in the music department. having mem- bers in chorus. hand, and orchestra.
