With the overcrowded conditions, they had to work twice as fast and twice as hard to prepare appetizing meals for 700 to 800 hungry people. It was no easy job to maintain a spic and span kitchen, but the hard working ladies kept our cafeteria spotless. The faculty and student body are proud of the way these ladies manage our Cafeteria. ACADEMIC Jim CLASS HISTORY In September of 1954, the class of 1958 entered the ivy covered walls of West Shore High School. We had hardly learned our way about this spacious building and be- come acquainted with all of our teachers when it became necessary to organize. At our first class meeting, under the supervision of Mr. Jack Ray, class dean, we elected the following persons to provide leadership for the year-President, William Slothower, Vice President, James Stoner, Secretary, Susan Underwood, and Treasurer, Wayne Myers. We chose as our class flower the American Beauty Rose, as our class colors, blue and silver, and as our class motto, We enter to learn and leave to serve. Upon completion of a rather uneventful yet rewarding first year of high school, we were glad to discard that Freshman label and welcome the summer vacation. With the fall of 1955 came the beginning of our Sophomore year. With the title of Sophomore, we felt a bit more proud and sophisticated. Under the supervision of Mr. John Behman, our class dean, we again elected as class President, William Slothower, Vice President, Stanley Johnston, Secretary, Susan Underwood, and Treasurer, Wayne Myers. For our annual class assembly program on February 22 we presented a show com- prised ofthe best talent from the Sophomore class. Our yearly class party was held in the gym on March 9, with music provided by the luke box. The party was a huge success and, as usual, a good time was had by all. ln March we placed our orders for the much l coveted class rings and then began t-he long wait until their arrival in August. After our second and what we might call a more enlightening year at West Shore High School, we looked forward to our summer vacation. In September of 1956, refreshed from va- cation and proudly displaying our new class rings, we began our iunior year. Our Junior class dean was Miss lnza Bentz. At our first class meeting, William Slothower was elect- ed for a third term as class President. Other persons elected to offices were-Stanley Johnston, for a second term as Vice Presi- dent, Jacqueline Willis, our newcomer from England, Secretary, and Wayne Myers, third-termer, guardian of the treasury. Our first fund-raising project was the selling of refreshments at the football games. This proved to be a bone-chilling experience at times but financially rewarding. ln the spring we sponsored the operetta, Tulip Time, under the direction of Mr. Williams, which also considerably aided our treasury balance. At our January class meeting we elected two proven leaders, Stanley Johnston and Joseph DiRienzo, as editor and business manager, respectively, for our yearbook, the Troian. On March 13, our dramatic talent was again displayed as we presented our Junior play, Mama's Getting Married. On March 17, the Junior Party was held in the gym. The class and their guests had a delightful evening dancing to the music of the Hershey Industrial School Orchestra. Our climatic social event of the year was the Junior- Senior prom, held on May 25 at the exclusive Hotel Hershey with music provided by the always popular Frank Taylor's Orchestra. With the arrival of spring came our long awaited class trip to the Gettysburg Battle- field. This highlight of our Junior year was educationally profitable and very enjoyable. With the close of this school year, our view into the future became a bit more realistic. For upon our return in the fall we would write our last chapter in our record at West Shore High School. In September of 1957 came the thought, sobering to many of us, of the end of our public school career. Proud of the fact that we had had our Senior pictures taken during the summer vacation, we plunged industri- ously into our most important year. Under the leadership of our class dean, Mr. Paul Stum, we held our first class meet- ing. The results of our voting for officers gave William Slothower his fourth term as class President. Other persons duly elected to offices were-Harry McKillips, Vice Presi- dent, Susan Underwood, Secretary, Wayne Myers, Treasurer, and Ellen Birk, Class His- torian. Our theatrical production, Come Out of the Closet, was presented on November 21 and 22. The play, produced by Mr. Lawrence Waite, faculty director, and Sandra Stetler, student director, proved to be a box-office hit. Under the capable management of Mr. Donald Books, the play was also profitable financially. On December 6 the first Senior Party was held in the gym. The popular apparel of the evening was Bermuda shorts while the popular appeal seemed to be the delicious ice cream sandwiches. After much deliberation the official commencement an- nouncement was chosen by the class on November 5, from the Josten Company. Highlighting the social events of the first semester was the Senior Ball, held on Janu- ary 18, at the Penn Harris Hotel. The Seniors, their guests and the faculty, danced away the hours to the beautiful music of Maynard McKissick and his ten-piece orchestra. The second Senior Party, a dress-up affair, was held in the gym on March 7. The theme, The Satellite Swirl, was beautifully por- trayed by the blue decorations and spark- ling crystal ball. Delicious refreshments cli- maxed an enioyable evening. We express our thanks to the Junior class for the lovely Junior-Senior Prom held in May at the Hershey Hotel. This wonderful evening has become another cherished memory of our Senior year. And now we look forward to a Senior trip, Baccalaureate, and finally, the crown- ing glory of our years of work, play and study, Commencement. Yes, we finally real- ize the great debt we owe to our parents, our class deans, our teachers, our adminis- trators, our Board of Education, our com- munity, and our country. To all of these who had a definite part in shaping our lives, we express our thanks for truly we are more poised on the stepping stone to the future. To each individual member comes the chal- lenge to uphold our motto, We enter to learn and leave to serve. How well we serve will be determined by how well we have learned. Let us hope that we have learned our lessons well and that our service will be a credit to our school, our community, our fellowmen, to our country, and to our God. ELLEN R. The place is the Gettysburg Battlefield. The scene is the reunion of the class of 1958. We experienced so much fun in 1957 restaging the original battle, armed with cameras, firecrackers and the like, that we decided to come back for another Try. As I sit here, gazing out over the vast battle- field, I see a lonely figure approaching deeply engrossed in a Mad magazine. lt's Sue Stolzer, world famed editor of the same. Hi, Sue, where is everyone? Hi, Tex, I think everyone is down in Devil's Den, where else? Let's stroll on down and see if it's still there. By the way, Tex, what have you been doing these past few years? Well, after serving my hitch in the French Foreign Legion, I became interested in girls and started writing letters to the Lonely Hearts, which happens to be managed by Aldine Solves Every- body's Problems But Her Own Steinemann and Jessie Men Bore Me Shutt. Well, here we are, and there's Earl Williams setting the stage with some hysterical impersona- tions of the characters in EvangeIine, the new production in which he's starring. He's a great actor now, but then, he always was. Speaking of actors, there's Sue Mathers, star of the new play, Sweater Girl, which was writ- ten by those hilarious playwrights, Annetta Hil- bish and Judy Fetterolf. I also heard that Bill Minister took Mat DiIlon's place on Gunsmoke and started a new show called Disintegrater Fumes. Jim Weikert plays his sidekick, Crusty. lt's too bad Marlin Grimwood couldn't be with us. I understand he's in New York finishing a course in ballet under the instruction of Lana Leone to improve his basketball playing. I think Marlin should reconsider and go into show busi- ness. A goodly number of our classmates went into show business. Harry McKilIips took Hal March's place on the 564,000 Crack-pot Question with his able assistants, Pat Maclay, Emily Myers, and Erin Harder. I guess Ken Bowman and Charlie Crisp are home cramming now. They're supposed to be on the show tonight to try for S128,000 and prove that two heads are better than none. Look, there are those big, big businessmen, Charlie Stemler, Jeff Jenkins, and Scott Miller, who are still bagging faithfully at the A 8. P's new branch in Dogpatch. That place is really expanding with Betty Wentz, Carolyn Kern, and Ruth Mat- thews opening a new Murphy store right across the road. It sure must be. The biggest flower enterprise in the United States, owned and managed by John Lemke and Ray Cotton, is opening a new branch there. The exclusive, cold, drab business of Myers' Merry Mortuary is supplied with Lemke's rare and beautiful flowers. Wayne Myers' Mortuary business is quite pros- perous. That's because of the gang of Bill Add- ing. Machine Hale, consisting of Machine-Gun Joe Enney, Jack Scarface Kranzel and John Meatcleaver Masonheimer. Their chief rivals are Gary Babyface Moore, Charlie Deal alias Mouse, Bulls-eye Ray Bender and Joe Black- lack Bower. I guess that group really keeps near-sighted Eddie Kapp busy trying to keep law and order. He still can't see two feet in front of him, even with his glasses. It looks like Helen Todd, Joyce Prosser, Louella Starner, Sandy Snook, Sandy Johnson, and Reta Baum are really sticking to their knitting. They started a knitting club for lady cigar smokers since Agibail Van Buren declared it impolite to smoke them in public. While we're on the domestic side, Helen Mays and Ron Harro, famous inventors of the portable parking place, remarried after some reconcilia- tion by that famous marriage counselor, Sande Wagner. I hear she helped Allen The Muncher Hayden and Linda Green settle their differences, too. There's Stan Johnston, manager of the John- ston Wagonwheel Cigar Manufacturing Company. He married Barb Hutchinson, chief tester in the factory, but divorced her a year later on the grounds of tobacco breath. Her good friend, Ginny Clegg, has also had her share of bad luck. Due to circumstances beyond her control, she is now in Reno finishing off her thirteenth marriage. A moment ago I was talking to the Rev. and Mrs. James Stoner. Mrs. Stoner was the former Beverly Stephens. They informed me that Carolyn Varner and her colleague, Jean Gates, are doing a marvelous job converting and civilizing the Ubangies. Carolyn always had a soft spot in her heart for that particular tribe and she wrote that she was very happy. I also heard by the grape- vine that Shirlie Widener was living there and had married one of the natives because she couIdn't find any American men to please her. You know she was always hard to please. There's Gerry Umholtz, intoxicated on Sun-Ripe Orange drink again. She's always hanging out at Jim Youndt's Ice Cream Parlor because that's the only place she can get served. I guess Jim feels sorry for the poor girl since he knows how it is. Look at poor Bill Slothower. He's been unem- ployed for the past ten years. Bill-says he's going to change things for the better by going on strike, because they raised his unemployment in- surance rates. Of course Ellen Paul surprised everyone too. She went on a Gain-Weight diet and is now training for the Women's Heavyweight Championship of the World. While we're on the subject of sports, did you know that Dan Trayer and Leo Davis organized an all-girl football team? Ginger Boyles is the fullback, Rosy Trout plays center, and Bonny Lovell plays quarterback when she's not sidelined from laughter. I'm glad that Susan Underwood, Ellen Birk and Sandi Stetler, famous piano trio, could take time from their world tour and come to the reunion. Charlotte Arnold helps them keep time with her ever faithful cymbals and does bookkeeping on the side. Jackie Willis, the first woman Prime Minister of England, has arranged for the trio to appear before the king and queen on their next trip abroad. Jackie's been doing a very good iob even though public opinion has been against her. She recently sent those international spies, Maxine Eichleberger, Marie Eade, and Pat Boyer, to blow up the Kremlin. They ought to get a big bang out of that assignment. Wow! I'm getting a bang out of this. Here comes Pat Bubbles Bean and her chorus line, Betty Handz, Sally Hancock, Brenda Greenawalt, Ginny McCombs and Mert Hoch. They recently opened at the Sweat Shop, managed by Barb Shorter, who's struggling to support her hus- band, John Neff, who lust bought a new sports car on the time payment plan. I guess they took Diana Stone's place who has retired on her laurels after making a new album, Music to Commit Suicide By. You get the effect as you listen to it. I believe Jeanne Tyler and Pam Hippensteel are cigarette girls at the Sweat Shop and Dotty James is a hat-check girl. They had a good business until last spring. Then Al Quigley opened his opera house in which he stars singing The Barber of Seville. Also playing at Al's are the Little Lemon Sisters, Mary Purks, Sissy Bair, Jo-Ann Schaeffer, Nancy Shuler, Sandy Rishar, and Rita Reitenbach. Do you remember the book Gayle Ritchie wrote, Short Fat Fannie ? Well, she's producing a stage show with the same title in which she plays the leading role. Dennis Marston plays the villain, naturally. I guess they'II open at Ham- macher's Hideaway, run by Carol and Sylvia, where you see double all the time. Here come the space travelers of the class. They are none other than Jerry Wehler and George Little, inventors of the solar rocket. They have iust returned from the moon where they left Sue Snyder and Nancy Watson to study crater formations while Ruth and Alverta Stewart check to see if it's really made out of green cheese. Did you notice the disgust eminating from Dave Stine and Larry Updegraph, our bowling enthusi- asts? They've been tied on Championship Bowling for eight weeks and neither one has knocked down a pin. They each claim Stage Fright. We do have a couple of winners with us though. Kay Nelson and Pat Miller entered their soap-box in the derby in Vera Cruz and won by an orange crate. Well, they're not the only ones. Bonnie Tuthill and Judy Sheffer are running tops in the Miss Universe contest and the iudges are having a rough time. That's mostly because Joe DiRienzo can't make up his mind who to vote for and until he does, the vote is tied. It was difficult to interview Elaine Best and Joan Ponesmith, those famous book critics. They've iust previewed that new book written by Bonnie and Nancy Long. It's the story of Glenn Rhinehart and how he became an under- study to Yul Brynner. I believe it's called The Long, Long, Gray Beard. Confidentially, they predict it will be a flop which probably means it will turn into a best seller. Well, Tex, I guess that iust about takes care of each member of the class of '58. According to this prophecy their names have not made history but we seriously predict that each mem- ber will play an important role in this complex but challenging society. Those who attended were surrounded by lavish eve- ning gowns, sweetly scented corsages, and delicious refreshments. After the prom and the many parties, everyone fell asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow. Many dreams had come into reality at our fabulous Junior-Senior Prom. Mama's Getting Married was presented in assembly by members of our Junior Class. Do you remember Joe DiRienzio, Harry McKillips, and Eddie Kapp in those crazy wigs and skirts? . . . and Bev Stephens and Lana Leone as the irresistible Maudie? After many weeks of practice under the capable direction of Miss Bentz, our play turned out to be one of the most successful ever presented at W.S.H.S. We wish to thank our two splendid casts for a swell iob, and our prompters deserve our lasting praise. The morning was celebrated by having break- fast together. A few hours later, everyone had tumbled into bed to dream of the wonderful time that was had by all. COME OUT OF THE CLOSET Come Out of the Closet, the Senior Play, was presented on November 21 and 22. The curious audience gathered to find out what actually would come out of the closet, but before we solve that mystery, we hear the clanking of machines over- head, a large sum of counterfeit money is uncov- ered and two of the respectable renters turn out to be not at all what we expect them to be! To top off a most enjoyable and mysterious eve- ning, we were really surprised to see two mem- bers of our local Police squad arrest our criminals. This play was excellently performed, and we wish to express our sincere thanks to all com- mittee anol personnel who helped make our per- formance a success. A CAPPELLA CHOIR The A Cappella Choir, under the direction of Mr. L. P. Williams, has completed an outstanding year of musical activities. The Choir's first appearances were made in December when the annual Christmas program was presented to the P.T.A., repeated for the student body, and telecast over WHP-TV. Our very capable Mixed Ensemble sang in the halls of the high school each morning during the week before Christmas, presented programs for the Lemoyne Civic Club and the grade schools of the iointure, and participated in County Chorus. In March, the operetta, The Pirates of Penzance was presented by the choir and was a huge success. The climax to the choir activities of the year was the long-awaited choir banquet. These young songsters are certainly proving their ability for future membership in the A Cappella Choir. The choirs and student body of West Shore High School wish to express heart- felt appreciation and thanks to Mr. L. P. Williams, director of vocal music. His un- tiring efforts and willingness to help have done much toward maintaining the excel- lent musical record of our school. For this great service, go our thanks to a true mu- sician, conscientious teacher, and good friend. 'PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT BAND Mr. William Johnson has com- pleted his sixth year as director of instrumental music in the West Shore High School System. VARSITY FOOTBALL The 1957 season of varsity football turned out to be a season of hard luck and bad breaks. Having lost Coach Groover to the service of the United States and many of the gridiron champs from last year's team, our boys faced a year of uncertainty. Norman Friend took over the task of training the team and did a good job. One of our worst breaks came when a potential star, Dan Trayer, was injured while playing and was unable to complete the season. Although the season ended with nine losses, the Troians boomeranged and won the traditional Thanksgiving Day game. We wish to thank the Troians for their efforts put forth in each game. S.-O Due to inexperience and first game iitters our Trojans went down to defeat by the overwhelming score of 31-O. Scoring 25 points in the first half, the Mustangs had no trouble in holding West Shore scoreless through the four periods. HUMMELSTOWN-19 W. S.-7 Journeying to Hummelstown on a cold Friday night, the Troians went down to their second defeat by a score of T9-7. Leo Davis scored West Shore's lone touchdown on a T3-yard run and Dan Trayer ran the ball across for the extra point. SHIPPENSBURG-l 2 W. S.-7 In their initial home game of the season our Troians fell prey to the Shippensburg Greyhounds by the score of T2-7. Dan Trayer scored the only West Shore touch- down early in the first quarter. The Tro- ians held a 7-6 lead until the last 2 min- utes of the game, when the Greyhounds pushed over to score the winning touch- down. SUEQUENITA-21 W. S.-6 On October l2th, traveling to Susquen- tia, the West Shore eleven continues their three-game losing streak by dropping the contest to the Blackhawks 21-6. Leo Davis scored West Shore's lone touchdown early in the first quarter. Susquenita scored in the second, third, and fourth quarters to wrap up an easy victory. CUMBERLAND VALLEY-60 W. S.-7 ln their last night contest for the season the Troians iourneyed to Cumberland Valley where they were soundly defeated by a score of 60-7. The Eagles found the Troians no trouble in handing them their fifth loss. West Shore's only touchdown was scored by Tom Bowman on a plunge. SUSQUEHANNA 27-W.S. O Meeting the Indians from Sus- quehanna on West Shore's field, the Trojans went down to defeat for the sixth straight time by a 27-O score. Displaying a fine of- fense, the Indians had no trouble holding the Trojans scoreless. BOILING SPRINGS 27-W.S. O Again playing at West Shore, the Trojans repeated the perform- ance of the previous game. This week it was the Boiling Spring's Bubblers who handed the Tro- jans a 27-O loss. ENOLA I4-W.S. O Playing on New Cumberland's field, the Trojans showed im- provement in their defense by holding the league-leading Enola to I4 points. However, the Panthers had no trouble using a fine offense plus the I4 points to shut out our Trojans I4-O. CAMP HILL 32-W.S. Leo Davis, George Horner, and Tom Bowman scored the T.D.'s NEW CUMBERLAND I3-W.S. 27 Playing on a rain soaked field the West Shore Trojans entered the win column by defeating the New Cumberland Tigers 27 to IS. By using a single wing offense and throwing up a strong defense, the Trojans had little trouble with the Tigers. Leo Davis accounted for the first two W.S. touchdowns with runs of 4 yards and 31 yards respectively. Tom Bowman scored the third TD on a run of 2 yards and also ran for 3 extra points. The final tally of the game was scored by Jim Stoner on a pass play from quarterback, Joe Anderson. Leo Davis received Player-of-the-Week honors for his excellent play in this game. BOYS' BASKETBALL Starting this season with an entirely new first team, Coach Norman Friend had the problem of organizing both effective offensive and defensive units. The team had only a fair season because of this inexperience. Comprising the first team were newcomers John Millarcl, Marlin Grimwoocl, Duane Wood, and veterans Bill O'Brien and Don Beale. Bill Slothower and Gary Reeser were frequent substitutes. Howie McFee played the first half of the season but due to an iniury, was forced to sit along the sidelines during the remaining games. NORMAN FRIEND, Coach W.S. 42 CAMP HILL 66 Facing their rival enemies the Troians were easily set down for their second defeat. The W.S. J.V.'s were successful and won their game by a 37 to 32 score. W.S. 37 NEW CUMBERLAND 54 Playing on the Tiger's floor the West Shore five went down to defeat once again. Howie McFee was high scorer with 12 points. W.S. 49 NORTHERN JOINT 36 ln their first game of the sea- son, West Shore traveled to Dills- burg and defeated the Polar Bears by a 49 to 36 score. Bill O'Brien was high scorer for the Trojans with 15 points. W.S. 53 SUSQUENITA 45 The Trojans made use of a 16-point third quarter to defeat the Black Hawks by a 53 to 45 score. Bill O'Brien led the scoring with 15 points. W.S. 38 W.S. 51 HUMMELSTOWN 50 Duane Wood provided the ex- citement in West Shore's first home game of the season by tossing a 30 Lt. goal in the final 3 seconds to put the Troians ahead. W.S. 45 ENOLA 47 West Shore lost its first game at the hands of the Enola Pan- thers by a score of 47 to 45. Howie McFee and John Millard were the high scorers with 14 and 12 points respectively. W.S. 38 SUSQUEHANNA 41 CUMBERLAND VALLEY 42 ln spite of John Millard's 12 Losing their third straight game, West Shore was defeated by Cumberland Valley by a 42 to 38 score. Bill O'Brien was high scorer for the losers with 12 points. W.S. 74 BOILING SPRINGS 39 Gary Reeser's 17 points took the scoring honors in a rather lop- sided Troian victory. Coach Friend cleared the bench as the entire team contributed to the victory. points, the Troians were not able to offset a late drive by the ln- dians and lost their 4th in a row. W.S. 40 CAMP HILL 70 Don Beale's II points was the best the Troians could do against a much stronger Camp Hill team. The Lions led from the start and were never approached. W.S. 58 NORTHERN JT. 52 The Troians again defeated the Polar Bears, this time on West Shore's floor. Marlin Grimwood took the high scoring honors with 23 points. W.S. 3I SUSQUENITA 50 Playing on the Blackhawk's floor, the Troians ran out of gas in the second half and were easily defeated. W.S. 55 CUMBERLAND VALLEY 58 ln a close game, the Trojans couldn't seem to take advantage of Don Beale's and Gary Reesler's combined 3I points. W.S. 46 BOILING SPRINGS 42 In another close contest, W.S. had some trouble with a team they had beaten easily at the start of the season. Marlin Grimwood was again high scorer with 20 points. W.S. 34 SUSQUEHANNA 46 For the second time this sea- son Susquehanna found the win- ning combination. Marlin Grim- wood's I2 points had little effect on the rampaging Indians. W.S. 54 HUMMELSTOWN 52 ln a close, hard fought game, West Shore came out on top by a narrow 2-point margin. Marlin Grimwood sparked the Troians with I9 points. W.S. 54 ENOLA 38 Revenging their earlier loss to the Panthers, the Troians handed them a 54-38 loss. Good all-around play was sparked by Bill O'Brien's I6 points. W.S. 50 NEW CUMBERLAND 58 Marlin Grimwood's 22 points weren't enough to catch the fast- moving Tigers. A 5-point Troian lead at half time was quickly overcome in the third quarter by New Cumberland. Left to right: Farrow, Horner, Underwood, Quigley, Zimmerman, Ritchie, Garverich, Polzin, Salmon BOYS' J.V. BASKETBALL This year the J.V.'s were under the direction of Coach James Starr. Due to the loss of last year's first string team the baby Troians were handicapped by inexperience. In spite of this the team came through with a fairly good season. As the i957-58 basketball season came to a close the West Shore girls were able to boast thirteen vic- tories and one defeat. Led by captain Gerry Umholtz through game after game of hard, calm, cool playing the Troianettes were able to win the Lower Susque- hanna Conference Division A Championship for the second straight year. Throughout the season the games were high-lighted by the accurate shooting of the forwards and the fine defensive play by the guards. Each of the players realize that none of this could have been possible without the sound coaching of Miss Jones and her desire for good sportsmanship which was an ever present asset to the team. W.S. 54 ALUMNAE 43 The opening game of the season was the tra- ditional game when old friends clash. After a hard fought game the W.S. lassies emerged vic- torious. Gerry Umholtz was high scorer with 28 points. WS. 70 CUMBERLAND VALLEY 61 On January 10 the Troianettes met Cumberland Valley on their home court. After gaining a quick 16-7 lead in the first quarter W.S. went on to win 70-61. Fine defensive play by Aldine Steine- mann plus Doris Redfern's 39 points were the deciding factors. W.S. 66 CAMP HILL 59 The whiz kids, playing an inter-divisional tilt, won a close one 66-59. The score was 57-57 with three minutes to play, but a determined effort by the Troianettes plus each of the forwards hitting in the 20's was decisive. W.S. 59 BOILING SPRINGS 33 The lassies had no trouble with Boiling 'Springs as they led 30-11 at halftime. Miss Jones was able to use everyone on the bench. Gerry Umholtz had 18 points and Doris Redfern added 17. W.S. 61 CAMP HILL 57 The whiz kids chalked up their tenth straight victory by defeating Camp Hill for the second time this season. It was a tough battle but the superior strength of our girls proved over- powering. W.S. 45 ENOLA 42 Traveling to Enola for their first league game, the lassies found themselves in a point for point battle. Although the girls were seven points behind with less than five minutes to play, their determination never ceased until the final whistle signaled a 45-42 victory. W.S. 60 SUSQUEHANNA 47 On January 14 the lassies met Susquehanna on their home court. The fine defensive play by the guards plus Umholtz's 21 points, proved too much for the Indians. W.S. 51 CUMBERLAND VALLEY 44 Cumberland Valley gave the Troianettes a rough first half, and for the first time in the season W.S. trailed by one point at halftime. Rallying in the third quarter our girls ended it with a 51-44 victory. W.S. 65 CENTRAL DAUPHIN 52 The Troianettes added another one to the win column by beating Central Dauphin 65-52. The offensive attack was led by Gerry Umholtz with 22 points while guards. W.S. 76 SUSQUEHANNA 71 This was the game of the year. The Indians tied the score 71-71 with four seconds to play but a basket and three foul shots in overtime spelled victory for the Troianettes. Gerry Umholtz scored 45 points to set this season's record for points scored in a single L.S.C. game. W.S. 53 ENOLA 37 The Troianettes out played and out scored Enola in every quarter to put themselves only a game short of the Championship. Senior guard, Aldine Steinemann did a fine job defensively while Gerry Umholtz led the offensive attack with 20 points. W.S. 50 CENTRAL DAUPHIN 62 The thirteenth game on February 13 proved unlucky as the Troianettes dropped their only game of the season to Central Dauphin. The girls put up a valiant battle but iust couIdn't pull ahead. W.S. 58 BOILING SPRINGS 38 The lassies clinched the L.S.C. division A title by downing Boiling Springs 58-38. After a slow start in the first quarter, W.S. caught fire to out-score Boiling Springs in the remaining three quarters. W.S. 61 MECHANICSBURG 43 The Troianettes finished the season with an easy victory over the Wildcats. Gerry Umholtz ended the season by sinking 30 points. ff'f?pE 2-325525 W5 wi .. Those returning are: Jim Ritter, Harry McKillips, Alan Herman, Duane Wood, Charles Appleby, Joe Anderson, Phil Nace, Jeff Ware, AI Magnelli, Jim Quigley, Ed Augustine, and Keith Kramer.
