Wrestling OCZHE 1953-54 wrestlers began in a blaze of glory and continued in the same fine glow of success, ending in second place in Sec. VI Championship. In- dividual winner in the same Sec. VI Championships was Ken Meissner. Mike Gessford with 15 wins and Ray Davies with 13 pins and 2 decisions, not only were Championship winners, but also had an undefeated record for the season. Other winners in the Sec. VI Championship were D. Duebel and F. Maciejewski, second placeg T. Procknal, T. Bihr, D. Kohler, third placeg Ed Murray, fourth place. What a spectacular record Coach Robinson's wrestling team piled up! A glance at the scores below will convince you that we are justly proud of such fine wrestlers who earned their letters this year: D. Duebel, Capt.g T. Procknal, R. Belcher, T. Bihr, K. Meissner, A. Tara, M. Gessford, E. Murray, F. Maciejewski, D. Kohler, R. Davies, E. Gryesekowial and T. Bedore. Right- ly pleased are we with squad men: L. Kellogg, E. Murray, J. Tara, P. Anna, P. Beisinger, E. Anna. A good job was done by their manager, R. Helmbreck. 1953-54 WRESTLING THEY WE THEY WE Amherst 10I I I I I I42 Williamsville 7I I I I I I40 Williamsville 15I I I I I I43 Clarence 10I I I I I I36 C. Captain OCTHERE is always tremendous interest in our swimming team because of the skill of our finmen, the excellent coaching of Mr. Bruce Hawkes and the lively competition offered by such schools as Amherst, Williamsville, Cleveland Hill, Maryvale and Clarence. While there were no records broken this year, everyone recognized the team's spirit and Sportsmanship and enjoyed the spectacular back stroke and free style of Ken Rebman. Quoting Mr. Hawkes, This year we did very well even without seniors on the squaclg next year looks very promising. Good Luck, Mr. Hawkes. Glinski, K. Hodges, D. Martin, G. Hall, E. Murray, D. Deubel ESPITE losing many of last year's championship team, West Seneca's baseball team remained a powerhouse. After winning the A A championship of Northem Erie County, we lost to Trott High School in the play-off. On the brighter side during the season was the great squeeze play at home plate, which led to victory over Cleveland Hill. There was Bill G1inski's no hit no run game with Sloan. We shall long remember the tremendous hitting of Jun- ior Bowes, Ted Sloman and Pinky Murray. Other names in the annals of W. S 1953 successful baseball season were Denny Deubel and Chuck Wilson.
