This makes two years in a row that our J. V. hoopsters have gone undefeated on their home court at Winchester. John Crawford and Ronald Thomas were the only experienced holdovers from last year's squad. John Fairbanks, a newcomer, caged 13h points, high total for the team. The Junior Varsity provides an excellent proving ground for prospective Varsity material and more should be heard oi' Crawford, Fairbanks, Szczepanski, mingle and Bowes next year as they vie for berths. 4--55-Q

Up from the Junior Varsity however, came much needed help in the fonn of Dave Pearce, Don Priore, Hank Piegza, Wally Simpson and Dick Hotterman, Mr. Robinson and nr. Abrams combined their time, efforts and basketball knowledge in coaching both the J. V. and Varsity basketball teams for the 1950-El season. Dave Pearce emassed l37 points to emerge as top scorer for the entire season--and his 2l points against Angola were high for any one game. The second Gowanda game was a thriller which was finally won by West Seneca in the closing seconds 35'3h. The services of Ed Doerfel, playing his first year of Varsity ball, were lost late in the season as he exchanged uniforms--basketball for military. Orchard Park's invading league champions were pressed to the limit before eking out a last quarter victory. Bud Knuth, in his P. G. year, earned his varsity W to become a major letter winner in three sports--football, basketball, and baseball. The loss to Sloan, traditional rivals, on our homecourt was a heartbreaker. Our quintet held a commanding lead in the early stages of the game only to see it ebb away. Speaking of rebounds, Glinski, Simpson, and Yea should do their share of controlling backboards next year. The outlook for the 1951-S2 season is indeed bright with the prospective return of stellar sophomore's Bill Glinski and Joe Yea, along with such proven performers as Pearce, Priore and Simpson. These five lettermen should be ably supported by those graduating from the J. V. ranks, perhaps even pressed to retain their varsity recognition. ' E--52-P'
