One builds, the other destroys, one integrates, the other disintegrates. iw Ji J! ffiflfjlt' On November l7, 1954, we saw building and inte- grating forces come to fruition in the dedication of our enlarged and transformed West Seattle High School. But a bigger and better school is meaningless unless it builds dedicated young men and women of greater physical, mental, and moral stature. How are young men and women built? Well, very much as all buildings are built-brick upon brick, stone upon stone. The bricks and stones are your daily assignments done well, your activities whole- heartedly engaged in, your responsibilities assumed and faithfully executed, Thus, the school builds indi- viduals ofa greater stature. The challenge to each of you is to release within yourself, the forces which build and integrate. In those days it was difficult to ' t' look ahead and imagine what we now have. Yet the. We must have faith that something good will come from our struggles, even as our present school emerged from wreckage and debris.
