SMILLIE Superintendent of Schools Principal Administration, Board Set Education Goals The Board of Education members and administration take an active interest in education and community life. As the legislative branch of West Salem Area Schools, the Board informs the public of the purpose and needs of education in the community. Elected by the people of the district, the seven members develop school policies and provide a budget by which the school district operates. The administration has the responsibility to administer the West Salem Area Schools and to direct the policies prescribed by the Board of Education and the State Department of Public Instruction in accordance with state statutes. The best possible educational program for the youth in this school district is the goal of these dedicated individuals.
