Three Seniors at West Rusk High School are honored an- nually by being the recipient of one of three awards. The basic qualifications for all three are good conduct, partici- pation, personality, and co-operative attitude toward others. The ROTARY AWARD is given each year to a boy or girl from the Senior class. The recipient receives a trophy and his name is engraved on a plaque furnished by the Rotary Club of Overton. fifi Unique to London High School, and now West Rusk High School, the TERRELL MALLARD AWARD is received by a Senior boy at the graduation ceremonies. He is chosen by his fellow classmates by secret ballot. The award itself is in JY honor of Terrell Mallard, an honor graduate and outstanding student at both London High School and West Point, who lost his life in an airplane crash during the Korean conflict. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor the outstand- ing Senior Boy who excelled in citizenship, scholarship, leadership, athletics, and personality. The JOHN PHILIP SOUSA AWARD is given each year to an outstanding Senior member of the high school band. It is announced the night of the final spring concert. The recip- ient is chosen by a three-man committee made up of the band director, president of the Band Boosters Club, and the high school principal.
