Portia Byard West Roxbury High School’s Class of 1987 is proud to dedicate our yearbook to our guidance counselor, Mrs. Portia Byard, who has retired this year after many years of service in the Boston Public School System. Mrs. Byard joined the staff at Westie in 1977 after having been a home economics teacher and guidance counselor at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. After her retirement Mrs. Byard will take a long, well-deserved vacation. Then she plans to fill her time by participating in additional ac¬ tivities in her c hurch and community. Mrs. Byard says that she will miss everyone at Westie. We know that she will certainly be missed by all of us whom she helped and en¬ couraged through our high school years. I ' Though most things in life come quickly then pass, There is something from Westie that I know will last. It’s the memories of friends and the days spent together, To us that is something that we’ll always treasure. We’ve been through some good times, some pain and some sorrow, but we were friends yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We’ll think about Westie every once in a while, these memories will leave us with joys, tears and smiles.
