Te igatica — The other day, professor Swami, the famed fortune-teller was in Salisbury; so I decided to pay him a little visit to learn what the class of '52 was going to do in years to come. As [| went into his tent, I was amazed by its impressive appearance. How- ever, I went up to his table, laid a list of the names of my classmates in front of him, and asked if he could look into their futures. He said that he could do so very easily and began looking into the crystal ball very intently. ‘In 1965, Phyllis Graham will become chief editor of the New York Times. A few years after graduation, Alex Morrow will be star player and manager of the Boston Red Sox; while Jimmy Miller will be president of his own baseball club called the Miller’s Maulers. Gladys McDaniel and Vivian Newton will open the McDaniel-Newton Beauty Salon in Salisbury in 1962, and Ruby Lipe will be making a world wide reputation as a fash- ion designer in Paris at that time. Several years hence, Garland Briggs will open the Brigg's Automotive Repair Company just outside of Salisbury near the home of Walter Kluttz, the head football coach at Notre Dame. Richard Edmistonand C. L. Edwards will become well-known as co-owners of the huge Edmiston-Edwards Dairy which will cover 6400 acres. Peggy Orbison will write the book,.Eat More and More, which will make the 1965 best-seller list. ee oe me Gy Frances Steele willsmarry right after graduation and she and her husband will move to Florida, where he will run.a large orange plantation. Anne Parker will open a nursery called Parker-Park-Your-Child-Nursery. In 1962, Polly Graham-.will be known as the wife of the famous Air Force General Ted Kepley. Rachel Webb will be secretary to a great. importing establishment in New York and Phyllis Kennerly will be a secretary in a California fruit-growing firm. J. B. Graham will organize the Graham's Hillbilly Orchestra, which will play at the Stork Club. Mitchell Cress will become a well-known farmer and philosopher. Patty Jo Oliphant will become the Society reporter for the Salisbury Post. Nita Correll, who is a talented artist, will become a Hollywood motion picture artist. In the political field, Bobby Miller will become world famous as the man who settled the Cold War. He will be ambassador to Russia and will lead the United States and Russia to a peaceful understanding. The man who will be North Carolina's Governor in 1972 will be none other than Edward Wolfe, who will go in on the Dixiecrate ticket. Elizabeth Eargle will be head of the English department at the consolidated schools of Mt. Ulla, Cleveland, Woodleaf, and Hurley. Annie Graham will become head nurse at John Hopkins Hospital. Doris Graham, who is a fine French student, will become French interpreter ae WAS WW. IN. « Peggy Winecoffe will move to Texas and by 1965, she will be the owner of a giant ranch there. Lois Weast will become ski instructor at Sun Valley, Idaho, and will be the head of a fine ski team. In the mid-’60’s, Harry Hall will be known as the owner of one of the largest farimissinethiess tates. ‘‘And you, ’’ Prof. Swami said, pointing at me, ‘‘Will be the assistant head book- keeper at General Motors.’ ‘ Many thanks, Swami, '’’I said.
