BS = It was in the year nineteen hundred forty-eight that a group of forty- eight boys and girls entered into their high school life with Mr. Charles L. Younce and Mr. John T, King as advisers, The only excitement taking place during the year was the initiation of the freshmen into the F.F.A. Giles eval IF otal. AN. Clu). The next year only forty students entered and this year we had as our advisors Miss Gladys Craven and Miss Mary K. Williams now Mrs. Phil Sloop. This part of our high school life ended with a trip to Mirror Lake where we had a wiener roast. Then our Junior Year approached with twenty-five pupils enrolled. We had as our Junior Advisor, Mrs. S. H. Price and all of us knew what our task of nineteen-hundred-fifty-one was--the Junior-Senior Prom. After work had been started on this big project our advisor, Mrs. Price, was unable to be with us for the remainder of the year. Then Mrs. Johnson came to our rescue by taking up where Mrs. Price left off. We are very thankful to them for helping to make our Junior-Senior Prom a successful one. Eleven of the Juniors were accepted as members of the Beta Club. Even though our class had a misfortune during the year, it was finally brought to a very successful close. Then we became the ‘‘dignified seniors’’ with Miss Ina Stevenson as our adviser. This year our class had twenty-nine students enrolled. The class elected Phyllis Graham as president. Then the annual staff was elected. About two and one half weeks after school had begun we received our rings. Our high-school life has been a very successful and happy one. We, the seniors, of fifty-two hope that the underclassmen will have as happy and successful high-school-life as we have had. With this we must say ‘ Goodby”’. Rachel Webb Class Historian We, the Seniors of the class toiwl 952 beingvotustrone bodies, sUperiormintel l= gence, and unmarred consciences, endeavor to leave to the underclassmen of Mount Ulla School certain traits and reputations never before acquired in the said institution. Realizing that our achievements have been outstanding and beyond reproach, we ask that they accept these characteristics generously bestowed upon them. First, to our parents, for their loving care and faithful trust, we leave our hopes that our lives may be as successful as their fondest dreams would have them be. Second, to Miss Ina Stevenson, Mr. C. L. Barnhardt and the entire faculty, we leave our thanks and appreciation for their kind efforts and lasting patience, dur- ing the past years. Third, as individuals we leave this, our Last Will and Testament. iy Peggy Orbison, leave my Us Sea Historysboolmtoumyeuttles brothers Derrzelly hoping that he can pass it on something better than I. And I, being of sound mind aud body, do hereby affix my signature to this, the Last Will and Testament of the class of 1952. Witnesses: Mitchell Cress Lawyer Lois Weast Doris Graham Richard Edmiston Te igatica — The other day, professor Swami, the famed fortune-teller was in Salisbury; so I decided to pay him a little visit to learn what the class of '52 was going to do in years to come. As [| went into his tent, I was amazed by its impressive appearance. How- ever, I went up to his table, laid a list of the names of my classmates in front of him, and asked if he could look into their futures. He said that he could do so very easily and began looking into the crystal ball very intently. ‘In 1965, Phyllis Graham will become chief editor of the New York Times. Let us look for comfort not in the past But diligently seek our reward from the future year So that, in time we may furl o'er our mast The glorious and triumphant banner of rest so dear, May we not drift as the trade winds blow, But use the wisdom we have gained to guide our course, We should not forget the great debt we owe To those of the past and then sail on without remorse. When at last we near our journey's end, If long and true and pure be our wake 'tis then we shall leave to ascend The great high road our peace to make, LINGERING THOUGHTS Our thoughts linger on with the years that have passed, The teachers and classmates, we'll never forget. Now those days have all ended, we wish they could last; Our days spent together we'll never regret, Chorus Oh Mt. Ulla School we must leave you now, Parting is sorrow and our heads we do bow. Our love and devotion we'll store in our hearts, And all through the years we will cherish thee. () ! | Wok ¢ Vs fy, 5) ps by, ae ty, WE Mer OFFICERS f : S i }? ‘ oes . Man- made fibers, new products of the chemist’s test-tube, have been a major contributor to this textile progress. A small textile producer in 1923, Burlington Mills believed in the future of rayon—an early man-made fiber. In the past 28 years Burlington has become a leader in the development and production of beautiful, durable and high-quality filament, spun and knit synthetie fabrics. If you are a young man or woman looking for a place in industry:, we think you should consider textiles—and Burlington. It ean hold a brigh« future for the person with the willingness to learn, ability to work, and the natural interest in this fascinating and competitive field.
