SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL For your clever theme and the interesting style in which the 1959 VAQUERO was developed, the staff is deserving of that extra bow so familiar to show business. It is especially appropriate that this theme in- volves the entire gamut of human emotions so typical of the adult world you are entering. Two aspects of the book will most assuredly serve to make your life richer and fuller - music and a sense of humor. Without the timeworn Song in your Heart and Smile be your Umbrella, your achieve- ments will indeed be dull. Melody and a merry heart are basic ingredients for the symphony of ife. As you refresh memories of high school days each time you scan these pages, the true value of teachers and classmates will become increasingly significant. May this reminiscence serve to lift you upward. I hope your future brings praise from the critics and good health from the Creator. Act well your part, there all the honor lies. A. Many thanks, too, to Miss Stoudt, for her dedica- tion to the job she did so efficiently in directing your activities. You have recorded in these pages memories, scenes and events of many happy days in West Reading High School. Thirty-three strong, you join the long list of graduates who have carried with them the bonds of friendship made here. Continue these with both teachers and class- mates. The lesson of knowing yourself and being true to yourself is one great purpose of education. The attribute of human dignity is hard won and with difficulty retained. If your high school course has not created in you as an individual this guid- ing philosophy, it has in a large measure failed. just as you continually strived for higher scholarship, so pursue the new experiences in life as they present themselves.
