HEALTH DAY CELEBRATION The presentation of five-point certificates to 208 pupils was, perhaps, the most significant event in the pageant presented on the school lawn Monday afternoon, May Srd. This live-point group is nearly 65 per cent of the total enrollment of the elem.entary and high schools combined. After preliminary music by the school band and greetings to the audience by the master of ceremonies, Frank Downey, the pageant opened with the entrance of the court and the crowning of the king and queen. The actors in this scene were jo Ann Yow, Queen, David Gedro, King, Shirley Brezeale, Maid-of-Honor, jean Anderson, Margaret Ashley, Barbara Guzik, Anne Humph- reys, joye Humphreys, Shirley Knapp, as Maids, Otis Bristow, Richard Daniel, Mac Graham, Herbert Haynes, Raymond Hogge, Franklin Roberts, as Gentle- men, Buddy Evans and johnny Hasty, as Pages, Swindell Brooks, Laura Neale, joyce Ann Wirtz, Rebecca Wyatt, as Flower Girls, Carolyn Bristow and Nell Marie Palmer, as Train Bearersg Homer Humphreys, jr., and Donald Schultz, as Crown-Bearersg Antonina Aczkiewicz, as Herald. After the coronation ceremony, the five-pointers marched on the stage by grades and were presented with their certificates by the king and queen. The remainder of the program carried out the theme The United Americas. This part of the program was presented in six scenes, each depicting a period in the history of the United States, and suggesting values derived from neigh- borly relations with the Latin American countries. After each scene, Uncle Sam, represented by Alton Eckert, summarized in verse the important events of the period, and Peace, represented by Barbara Dyson, and speaking also in verse, described the prosperity, progress, and happiness enjoyed by the people during the intervals between wars. -.gif 40
