HEALTH DAY CELEBRATION wwf The theme Recreation Unites the Nations was carried out in the Health Day Program presented on the school grounds Monday afternoon, May 19. The stage covered in white, with a background of evergreens, and flanked on each side by the bright flags of the nations, made an attractive setting for the scenes enacted in the presence of the court. All the members of the court were gold-star five-point pupils. The program began with an overture by the school band, after which Stewart Guthrie, as master of ceremonies, made an address of welcome to the spectators. Thomas Tokarz was crowned king. He was attended by Eddie Bernoski, William Clements, James Hancock, Robert Kerns, John Owen, and Robert Walsh. Following the crowning of the king, Joan Haynes was crowned queen. Her at- tendants were: Jean Anderson. Margaret Ashley, Barbara Guzik, Joye Humphreys, Shirley Knapp, and Jo Ann Yow. Jean Goodrich was the maid of honor. The king and queen, with the assistance of the members of the court, delivered certificates of honor to all five-point pupils of the school. Jane Topping. as narrator. presented the program arranged in honor of the court. In making the announcements, the narrator told how the nations of the world are united by recreation. On the program, were: A South American dance. by four boys and girls of the seventh and eighth grades, a Swedish dance, by the children of the first and second grades: a Swiss dance, by the third grade children repre- senting all the nations, the Virginia Reel, by twelve couples of the sixth and seventh grades: a May Pole dance. by a group of high school girls, and a Spanish dance by a group of high school girls. This part of the program concluded with a march of the nations by the pupils of the fourth and fifth grades and the singing of The Song of the United Nations by the high school choral club. After the withdrawal of the court, the spectators enjoyed seeing a game of soft- ball played by the high school boys.
