SENIOR CLASS WILL id We, the Class of 1947, being of sound mind and body, do hereby write our last will and testament. To the Juniors, we leave one more year of struggling. To the Sophomores, we leave a book on classroom etiquette. To the Eighth Grade, we leave the pleasure of changing rooms for classes. To Miss Boyer, we leave a public address system to amplify her voice so soft and low. To Miss Branch, we leave a debating team more interested in arguing than sightseeing. To Mrs. Cluverius, we leave another contest winning play cast. To Miss Darden, we leave an adjustable chair with a foot stool attachment. To Mrs. Geyer, we leave new song books. To Mr. Haynes, we leave a supply of art materials, so that next year's physics class will not have an excuse to run errands during recitation period. To Miss Hite, we leave a new health book. To Miss Howerton, we leave thanks for the many ways in which she has so often helped us. To Mr. Humphreys, we leave time to play with his cameras. Eddie Bernoski leaves his athletic prowess to John Seluga. Mary Buch leaves her homemaking talents to Margaret Skuers. Alvin Buckner leaves Brooke. Bill Cloward leaves his heavy voice to anyone who can manage it. Jimmie Cooke leaves a broken speed limit to anyone who wants to tell it to the judge. q Ann Corbell leaves her collection of engagement rings to Shirley Breazeale. Billy Dillard leaves to convert lost souls. Jean Goodrich will gladly sell, rent, or lend her giggle to anyone who wishes to worry Miss Darden. Stewart Guthrie leaves quietly. , Buck Haley, the last of the Haley family, leavesq James Hancock leaves his good disposition to Bonnie Dickerson. Joan Haynes leaves her peaches and cream complexion to Bebe Guzik. Lawrence Haynes leaves to protect Joan. Hilda Hodges leaves with John. Edna Lawson leaves to join the Carter Clan. Marian Marshall leaves a lot more room for Jean Wolfe. John Owen leaves, and, now, there will be a little peace and quiet. Stuart Petke leaves his tenor voice to James Berry. Leroy Riddle leaves William Hall to take his place in winning science honors. Francis Seckora leaves, regretting that Mary Lou can't leave, too. Charles Sessions leaves-finally. Thomas Tokarz leaves to carry on the Tokarz tradition at V. P. I. Catherine Walsh leaves her walk to Anne Humphreys. Bobby Walsh leaves his tight pants to Andy Hudock. Dolores Waxmunski leaves her line of chatter to her sister, Blanche, who doesn't really need it. FINAL SOCIAL OCCASIONS A round of social activities for the Seniors began when they were invited to be the dinner guests of the Kiwanis Club on May 13. After a delicious meal the mem- bers of the graduating class were welcomed by Mr. Joseph Pumphrey. the presi- dent of the Kiwanis Club, Stewart Guthrie, the class president, responded. Follow- ing the introduction of the members of the graduation class, Mr. Donald Jones of Los Angeles gave an interesting talk on movie production, concluding with a movie of his own on scenic spots in California. On Friday evening. May 16, in the High School Auditorium, the Juniors en- tertained the Seniors, the teachers. and other guest at a buffet supper and dance. Tasty food, colorful decorations. attractive favors, and Mac Graham's orchestra made the occasion a very delightful one. The teachers and senior classes of the New Kent and West Point High Schools were the guests of the Lions Club on May 21 at the West Point Country Club. Here the guests were treated to an evening of dancing, games, and refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Buch of Sweet Hall were hosts on May 22 at a party in honor of their daughter, Mary Buch, a member of the graduation class. After graduation exercises Friday evening, June 6, Mrs. L. B. Riddle and Miss Branch, the class sponsor, were hostesses at an informal reception in the home of Mrs. Riddle. The guests were the members of the senior class, the teachers, the members of the school board, and other participants on the graduation program.
