QUEEN IOAN ENTERS THE THRONE ROOM Probably the most awaited social event of the school year is the home- coming dance. This year, the dance was held in the gym after the Zizzer- Ava game. The gym was decorated with a fall air by the members of the Pep Club. At one end of the floor was the throne in which the queen and her attendants reign- ed over the dance. Refreshments of cider and doughnuts were served by the members of the Pep Club. Alumni and students alike turned out for the occasion to make one of the largest crowds ever to attend a home coming dance at W P H S In the opinion of everyone this year s dance was one of the nicest ever held and one all of us will long remember The dance This year the Pep Club sponsored the Paul Mitchell Band which played at the Homecoming dance They provided very lovely music for the dancing and put everybody in Just the rlght mood Everybody agreed that the Paul Mitchell Band put the finishing touches to an already perfect evening 153

IOAN AND ESCORT,' RICHARD IOHNSON The bright point of the half-time ceremonies at the Homecoming football game was the crowning of the Home- coming Queen. This year Ioan Martin was chosen to reign over the Homecoming festivities. At half-time the queen and her attendants drove onto the field in convertibles. While the band played appropriate music, Ioan descended from the car and walked through' an aisle formed by the Pep Club and the Band, to the sidelines where she was crowned Homecoming Queen by Don Thompson. After the crowning the girls and their escorts were seated along the sidelines where they watched the Zizzers defeat Ava. 52 The queen and her attendants view the game. PRISCILLA RIC HARDS 54 THE QUEEN AND HER ATTENDANTS Football Banquet This year, in reward for their fine per- formances on the gridiron, the Pep Club gave the football team a banquet in the cafeteria. The members of the Pep Club served, and the team members enjoyed the food immensely. After the meal, the speakers for the evening, Coach Aldo Sebben and Coach Harold Stratton of SMS were introduced. Coach Batten and Coach Heck also presented trophies to the most valuable lineman and the most valuable back These trophies were won by Don Thompson and Iack Cockrum Coach Batten presented letters to the team members The highlight of the dance after the banquet was the crovsming of the football queen The members of the team elected Priscilla Richards a senior for this year s queen She was attended by the two runner ups for the honor lean Lasater and Cynthia Richards The queen was crowned by football captain Don Thompson Following the Coronation the evening was spent in dancing and a good time was had by all
