ADMINISTRATION The administration congratulates the Class of '56 upon being the 78th class to graduate from W. P., H. S. During the course of years, many interesting insights into the lives of individuals become apparent. It is very satisfying to see young people grow and develop into men and women;good citizens in a democractic com- munity. When such metamorphosis is witnessed, then we may consider the task satisfactorily complete and a tiwell done may be bestowed. This book records the present, and therein lies a certain amount of its value. However, like all things of worth, the value of this yearbook will increase as time goes on. The memories recorded herein will be fondly recalled as these leaves are turned in years to come. DEDICATION It is with deep regard that the 78th grad- uating class of West Pittston High School dedicates this issue of the Caravan to Mr. E1- mer Armstrong, a member of our high school maintenance staff. Mr. Armstrong is a graduate of West Pittston High School where he was a member of the football team and captain of the track team. He was also Luzerne County Tennis MR- ELMER ARMSTRONG Doubles Champion. He entered the Navy in 1943 and served in the medical corps. His maintenance duties began when he helped his father, whose position he later filled, in caring for the stadium. These duties in- creased until he now has full responsiblity for its upkeep. Mr. Armstrong has displayed his personal interest in our school in many ways. One of these is shown in the free giving of his time and services to help in the running of our Youth Center on Saturday night. The 1956 issue of the Caravan is dedicated to Mr. Armstrong as a visible display of our gratitude.
