DEDICATED TO- - a Texan, sure's yer born - an' built tall an' solid as a chunk o' the Rockies. Yep, that's Mr. William C. Vaughn, who was Dean of Boys 'round These parts since West's beginnin'. Then, in Sep- tember o' This year, he drifted on over to Phoenix Union High School, what he's teachin' in the Sci- ence Department. 'Fore he came to West, his hang- out was over at North Phoenix High School's Science Department - an' 'fore that, Colonel Vaughn's brand was 'U S , 'cause he was ridin' with that that Air Force gang. In the frontier days o' my time, thar were rugged folks like ole Bill - strong, hardy men - men of action, not unnecessary words. Men with sturdy boots an' a hearty laugh, who were direct, sincere, an' never bore no grudges. Men like Mr. Vaughn - who drops his easy goin' ways when he comes acrost a teller who ain't eggsactly a saint - an' deals out some punishment right from the top o' the deck. That's the West's ole Bill - West High's Dean Vaughn, and the Westerner's Mr. Vaughn. With three hoots and a holler, we salute this colorful, rip roarin' cowpokel '1
