Margaret will need this gift, for she is prepared by four honor years for teaching. FRANCES MICKLOS has the intention of using her secretarial training after she grad- uates with credit of three years honors. After lessons are done, Frances settles her- self in a comfortable chair with a good book. MARIE DEVER isn't so vain as she may seem to be. She is only checking on herself to see if she is fully capable of succeeding in the business world, just as she has suc- ceeded in her four years as an honor student. Quietly, MARIE McVEY went about the task of winning three years honors. Marie expects to go to college after graduation. Meanwhile, she is busy with studies, espe- cially Latin, her favorite subject, and reading. Although test tubes and a bunsen burner are ANNA MARIE DONNELLEY'S fasci- nating toys during school hours, she is ever willing to let her keen-bladed ice skates sub- stitute for them. She's another four years honors who's never had to skim on thin ice. Above all things, this wide-awake student thinks that sleeping is an enjoyable way to pass time. Next to this, and three years honors work, MARIE McGLONE likes listen- ing and dancing to Glenn Miller's Orchestra. MARY ELWELUS high ambition is to learn the why's and wherefore's of the nursing profession, just as thoroughly as she has learned the how and what of her five aca- demic major subjects during her four years honors. Honors lead to white caps, Mary. Who would think that our dignified three years honors MATILDA MORGAN de- lights in watching a football game or listen- ing to the broadcasts? Matilda likes to dance, too. No one would have guessed it, Matilda. X-x ORS If dreams come true, MARY PETRINI will join the ranks of the women in white. When she is off duty, Mary can play the piano, for she likes it almost as much as she likes French, one of her three years honors. Another four years honor student fond of ice skating is MARIE DOUGHERTY. Marie prefers ledgers and journals to test tubes and bunsen burners, for in the near future, she hopes to hold a position as a bookkeeper, at least for a few short years. It takes all kinds of people . . ., and JEAN RAFFAELE is of the efficient folk. Jean wants to do office work after gradua- tion. It isn't strange, then, that a favorite study of her three years honors is secretarial. We all know MARY E. GALLAGHER, author of a clever column entitled Pete Says. Now we introduce her as the four years honor student who thinks that Mathe- matics is much more than a puzzling jumble of numbers. Mary's an all-around student. HELEN SCANLON, President of Class of 1940, leaves with the respect and admiration of Faculty and Students who have found her sincere and unassuming in her devotion to duty. Helen's a three years' honor student. Sugar 'n spice 'n everything nice g that's what AGNES HEAVEY'S made of. Honors for four years have not spoiled her sweet disposition, her spicy wit, and the every- thing nice includes her aptitude for work. West Catholic's own Sir Toby, CATHER- INE DORFF, gave as royal a performance during her two years as an honor student as she did in the presentation of our senior play, Shakespeare's well-known Twelfth Night. DOLORES HUGHES believes a little bit of everything should be studied. Her roster varies from Latin IV to French IIIg from Trigonometry to Glee Club. In these, and English, she's had honors for four years. in yay is 52 ft as s,. ,Ass J 1 X 5 N' X15 if-535 , sf Nw-M BLUE RIBBO Spelllng may be EILEEN KENNEDYS forte but she I5 also as good a student as she IS a speller When she has not been studymg to accumulate honors for our years, Enleen has been enjoying hours Of roller skating, when not preparing hlstory With music lh her heart and honor ma k on her report card for two years, LOUISE FURIA traveled merrlly through her school hours During her spare time, Louise plays the organ, her favorlte muslcal mstrument After her five majors are prepared, to keep her record of four years honors, MARY KERSHNER pulls up the piano stool and plays a few tunes to amuse herself When she tlres of thus, she has dancing to fall back on Honor marks ln all her five majors for two years is by no means small accompllshment of ANNE L FLEMING, another of our students who hopes to be a angel of mercy to some feverlsh patlent after graduation Annes cool poxse will help Her quick smile xs the first thing one notices about EDNA KEATING four years hon ors Longer acquamtance, reveals a more serlous stram, whxch shows Itself mostly n the attention she gnes to her daily lessons Who ns that dlgnxfled senior who walks so sedately through the corridors? someone asked Well she I5 MARGARET FARRELL the owner of a lno years honor report By the way, Margaret enjoys wallung, for pleasure To keep fit she expertly golfs She s a quiet miss, our ELEANORE MAIS Eleanore has hopes of becoming a tech mclan, and lf she works as hard as she dld to become one of the big ours she can t help but succeed lh what she sets out to do The best surprises come ln little packages However, xt lsn t surprlslng that petlte KATHRYN HOAR, our career woman to be IS the proud possessor ofa two years hon or record Her perseverance earned ll for her t . . . . This is one of the reasons that she wishes to stay near books. Betty likes French better than any other four years honors, though she's good at many things. MARIE PROPERT has a way of quietly holding her own in any classroom. This is probably why she was on the honor roll for two years. May she have as much joy in any business office she may enter after june 8th. Most girls keep a scrapbook, as does MAR- GARET HANNAN. Her favorite recreation is collecting items for her scrapbook, in which we hope she has the record of three years honors. Margaret is a future business woman, who hopes to commute to NewYork. ELIZABETH RIMDEIKA certainly must possess all of the traits of a secretary, or at least, most of them. How else could she re- ceive any honor marks on her report in all her commercial studies for two whole years. One would hardly know MARIE P. LAR- KIN were around, she has so very little to say. When Marie does talk, though, she usually has something worthwhile to say. Rare girl, our three years honors Marie. Someday, perhaps, we'll be invited by our two years honor student, GENEVIEVE SULLIVAN, to visit her own College of Musical Knowledgef Genevieve wishes to teach music after she is graduated. x Qu Introducing GRACE MARKUN, our blonde-haired actress-to-be whose favorite hobbies are amateur dramatics and roller- skating. She's famous around West Catholic for her art work and three years of honors. Honors are for those who have achieved 8562 and over in five majors. However, there are girls who like A. BOWES and K. CONCAN- NON deserve honors for perseverance de- spite fragile health. To these and to Catholic Action leaders we give the next page.
