Membership in the choir is 81. The choir sang for the student body at a Christmas program and performed at the ground breaking services for the new high school. The band is under the direc- tion of two new directors, Mr. Sam- uel Galvan and Mr. Larry Cordcr. A Christmas Concert was presented by the band and they played for pep rallies and football games. They started off the year with a pep rally for the Laredo - West C'so football game. The Student Council was kept busy by the elec- tion of the Homecoming Queen and Homecoming game celebration. It is also in charge of elections of class favorites, Mr. and Miss West Oso, and Student Council officers for the following year. They are a member of the All-City Student Coun- cil and a member of the Texas Association of Student Councils. They participated in the Tuloso-Midway Student Council Convention which was held at the beginning ofthe school year. At the annual March of Dimes mar- chathon, West Oso received third place among the small school competition. The Student Council has a membership of about 25. Members are selected by the student body from homerooms and clubs. These are high-ranking students who are active in school activities and in promoting progress of West Oso High School.
