EQUIPMENT r Broader reading for background in writing :- has helped the English Classes obtain more and better use of the knowledge they are ac- quiring . By the use of audio-visual material, Y, such as filmstrips, projectors, record play- ers , etc. , the students are more familiar with the material they are studying. This year, English students will be enter- ing the competitionin the University of Inter- scholastic meet inthe spring. Ready-writing and spelling will be included in the English department. In order to prepare for public speaking, the Speech Classes have been preparing them- selves by debating. While Speech Classes ad lib some of their speeches , they also take great care in making their speeches an in- formative and entertaining as possible. The students will learn an advanced tech- nique in the areas of debating and public speaking to inform and entertain. Historgraphy is a new method of teaching American History and is currently being used in some classes . The annual Iohn F . Kennedy Memo- rial Day program is an outstanding event of the year and has been pre- sented by both American and World history classes . f'flf'4A M K The five most important objectives in Civics are to have the students understand the nature ofthe American Governmental system, to encourage respect for law, to promote loyalty and patriotism, to promote good government, and thatgovernment today is an all-prevading social force. Miss James' third period class prepares for annual John F. Kennedy Memorial Day.
