BA D HA BU Y YEAR The West Oso Band, under the direction of Mr. Robert Trevino, has been busy this year. They played for football games, sold Halloween candy, gave a concert for the Cor- pus Christi Ministers' Association and sold chocolate bars. ln December they played concerts at Kennedy Elementary School and the High School. The band will march in the Robstown Livestock Show Parade, The Washington's Birthday Parade in Laredo, and the Buc- caneer Days Parade. They will have a trip to San Antonio in April and will conclude the years' activity by playing for Commencement Exercises in May. Band Mr. Robert Trevino Sam Houston State Band provides entertainment at half-time. ' I 'I I ' I 'S S' I 'I I Mr. Blaisdell explains conjugation of Spanish EL ESPA OL Mr. Darius Blaisdell teaches Spanish land II. In the first year of Spanish, students learn the Dfi1T1f31'i9S , such as pronunciation, spelling, and reading sentences . The second year students translate sentences and identify verb forms. Next year there will be a third year of Spanish for those who are interest- ed in learning more about the language . EQUIPMENT r Broader reading for background in writing :- has helped the English Classes obtain more and better use of the knowledge they are ac- quiring . By the use of audio-visual material, Y, such as filmstrips, projectors, record play- ers , etc. , the students are more familiar with the material they are studying. This year, English students will be enter- ing the competitionin the University of Inter- scholastic meet inthe spring. Ready-writing and spelling will be included in the English department. In order to prepare for public speaking, the Speech Classes have been preparing them- selves by debating. While Speech Classes ad lib some of their speeches , they also take great care in making their speeches an in- formative and entertaining as possible. The students will learn an advanced tech- nique in the areas of debating and public speaking to inform and entertain.
