STUDENT CONGRESS The main purpose of any student congress is to serve the school while acting as a liaison between the student body and the faculty and the administration. Under the competent leadership of President Louis Raveson, Vice-President Mike Milano, Recording Secretary Lucia Forina, Co responding Secretary Linda Salerno, and Treasui.r Mike Ross, the 1968-69 Student Congress of . fountain High has worked hard to accomplish this goal. Our student or- ganization has continued to improve past programs, including the student exchanges within the Jersey Hills Conference schools, the bonfire, the school store, and the passing of the revised dress code. Lou Raveson starts off one of our assem- blies. 28 FOSTER CHILD Salome is Mountain’s fourteen year old fos- ter child from the Philippines. She is pres- ently in the sixth grade, and since English is taught beginning in the first grade, she is able to correspond with us in English. Our help enables Salome to remain in school and to share the added benefits of our aid with her family, giving them hope for fu- ture self-sufficiency and a better way of life. Mountain has already helped two other chil- dren to become self-sufficient. This year’s chairmen of the Foster Child Committee are Andrea Daniel, Deborah Sharpe, Michael Bickler, and Scott Yurow. The Foster Child Committee draws up plans for a Junior-Senior Basketball game to support our ‘child 29 MOUNTAIN HAS THREE VALEDICTORIANS! The Math Team has proven its skill with a successful year. AERO-SPACE CLUB The Aerospace Club explores the realms of outer space. Tin y have built a telescope this year. Mr. Mulholland is surrounded by Senior Booster Club members. Their ac- tivities include promoting school spirit and sponsoring the Senior Breakfast. 42 BOOSTER CLUB SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY The members of the Spanish Honor Society are chosen upon merit and scholarship in Spanish. SECRETARIAL CLUB The Secretarial Club, under the leadership of Mrs. O'Grady, performs many important duties throughout the year, which includes selling corsages for the Thanksgiving game. FUTURE TEACHERS CLUB A moment of silence for A.V'.A. squad member David Buc- colo as he splices an important film tape. Miss Pcrino heads the Future Teachers Club with Cheryl Maurer as its president. These girls gain valuable experience by tutoring stu- dents at Pleasantdale School. AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS FUTURE PHYSICIANS CLUB These are Mountain High's future physicians, who meet under the guidance of Mrs. Finn. Most of their work includes laboratory research. The Drama Club sponsors a study of theatre arts. Members of this club are eligible for membership in the National Thespian Society after meeting certain requirements. DRAMA CLUB Members of the Photography Club study the art of photography. This interested group of students takes and develops its own pictures. PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB The Top 20 consists of an exceptionally talented group of students selected from the choir. 1 rips of this club included performances for the Daughters of Israel and the Kiwanis Club of West Orange, and performances for the Mountain High student body. SKI CLUB lr. Felsen and the Ski Club enjoyed their trips to Snowbowl and to Hunter Mountain. INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS CLUB Interested students listen to a guest speaker sponsored by the politics club. Guests this year were S.D.S. and Y.A.D.F. speakers. POLITICS CLUB Although few, the members of the International Relations Club participate in worthwhile projects of studying foreign relations. Mr. Robinson looks for an opening in the student defense. STUDENT-FACULTY BASKETBALL GAME Coach DeVingo puts in two to bring the teachers to a 43-41 victory. 48 “Tag, you re it!' HUMANITIES HUMANITIES This is the first year that Humanities has been offered at Mountain. It is an interesting investigation into the civilizations from the ancient Greeks to modem times. Through the integrated study of music, literature, and art the students learn about the changing philosophies of man and how they have been manifested in the major art forms.
