The Tax Stamp Contests seem to be the most popular activity at West Night Upon receiving the announcement of the results of one contest students and teachers alike begin asking when the next contest begins. The habit becomes so well established that whether there is a contest in progress or not collection of stamps goes on nightly in many classes. Our first contest this year ended in January with stamps collected amounting to 3215.22 in cash value. The spring contest closed on May 24th. with a collection of stamps worth S82.02, making a grand total for the year of SlB297.24. These contests are our best source of funds for the annual and other activities. The tabulated results below show how general is the interest and participation. Students and teachers are to be commended for their splendid cooperation. Congratulations to Miss Bisceglia and Mr. Cook and their classes, the winners of the two contests. ff! .lx And a special vote of thanks to 6 V Vg, , Miss Sudbrink and her classes ' Q for the management of the con- 3 M 5 Q tests and the preparation of fs the stamps for shipment to 2 ig? rf Columbus. f C ft-fiiwf ggq ., 'v 'J 13 !flT1E.' Illustrations... Proof-read .... Deadline ....... these are the unforgetable echos that have continually crept out of the staff office to haunt the students on the publications staffs. But time marches on and all too soon only a faint memory will remain of the hours of labor, spasmodic as they were, spent producing these publications. The staff, this year as in the past, has had its ups and downs, and no one can quite appreciate the problems, dif- ficulties, disappointments, and satisfactions involved in pro- ducing a school publication unless he has had an active part in this work. Our photographers, room representatives, artists, typists, writers, etc., are so numerous that the lack of space decrees that we cannot mention each of them individually. We realize, however, that we could not have assembled this book without their efforts. Therefore, in appreciation of their work with lens and pens we pause for a brief but grateful acknowledgment of the time and effort they have expend- ed in bringing success to this year's publications. A million thanks to everyone for all the things you've done.
