Junior Red Cross p The Junior Red Cross carries on many activities to help those in need, as does the American Red Cross. The organization here at West is very active. At Thanksgiving time some of the '. tx I.R.C. members put on a program at the Abbott Homeg at Christmas, for aged folks at Mary's Nursing Home. The club sent two ditty bags to the boys in Vietnam, collected 185 pounds of clothing to send to the Children's Federation in Appalachia, and presented birthday gifts to two children at the Avondale Children's Home. The I. R.C. members collected twenty-five cans of fruit and vegetables for the Salvation Army to distribute at Christmas. They sponsored the making of three hundred paper flowers to be used as table decorations for the annual Red Cross Banquet. They also made bookmarkers to be sold at Easter. Y- Teens The Y-Teen goal is to grow as a person, to grow in friendship with people of all races, religions, and nationalities, and to grow in the knowledge and love of God. Y-Teens is an organization of teen-age girls who implement Y-Teen goals through their programs. A part of the dues which is collected goes to the local and national associations. In return, advisors and clubs receive program help and guidance from the local Teen-A ge Staff. Y-Teens are members of the Y. W.C.A. and are invited to participate in association- wide events and enroll in classes and use facilities at the Y. W.C. A. This year the Y-Teens sponsored several events, the most important being the Snowball Dance, December twenty-first. The whole school was invited to the semi -formal affair. Boykin, Advisor - Mr. Milligan Audio- Visual Club The Audio-Visual Club was created to help the faculty in the presentation of movies and filmstrips, the making of sound tapes, etc. The A-V Club, during the past years, has added three new pieces of equipment to better meet :he audio and visual needs of the individual teachers. With the necessary basic tools the club possesses, it is well able to repair its own equipment. The A-V Club is also in charge of the lighting system in the gymnasium, in addition to the portable sound system which can be set up in the gym in a matter of minutes. The Club this year has sponsored two movies, The Great Locomotive Chase and PT, lO9. With the money that the Club earned, the members went on a field trip to television station WLW in Columbus. The Club's officers were Dave Clark, President: Iim Boyd, Vice-President, Dawn Hosler, Secretary, Ted Denman, Treasurer, and Ioe Wilson, Program Chairman.
