Winland The Tornadoes of 1968- 69 finished with the best record in the school 's history 20-2. This year West wasthe Co-Champs ofthe M.V,L, witha 17-1 record, This was the first basketball championship since being a member of the M. V.L. The Tornadoes won their fifth straight sectional championship, and were Distric-t runnersup, The team gained statewide recognition bynfinishing in the Top Ten in both A.P. 8: U.P.I. news service polls. There is one thing that stands out in thinking of the past season - teamwork, The ability of the boys to work together for a common goal was very important. The six graduating seniors did an outstanding job this year. Schleagel, F, Schuster The West Muskingum reserve basketball team coached by Rollin McQueary posted a 11-7 record over the 1968-69 season. Nine sophomores and three juniors made up this year's team. The reserves played every night the varsity team played and this is an 18 game M.V.L. schedule. After starting the season with a loss, they came back and won the next three games, The reserves shot 38 percent from the field and 64 percent from the foul line. They averaged 51 points and gave up 40 points per game. These boys can be complimented on their constant improvement and co-operation throughout the season.
