Smit needless words. The English department probes the depths of the human mind through studies of the world of literature and attempts at self-expres- sion. Freshmen gain respect for literary form as well as content. Sophomores gain insight as they struggle to comprehend the meaning of literary works. juniors concentrate on our ,I g if-W strunk 81 white American literary heritage. Seniors grapple with Beowulf and Shakespeare as they study English masterpieces. In French I, II, and III, students may study the language, history, and culture of France as they attempt to master the spoken and written word.
