The river is alive . . . With every seething motion it portrays s power . . . raging tor- rents, treacherous whirlpools, torrential rains, all are a part is ever-moving force. Wearing an ever-changing tree-dress enveiled in a gray mist o panish mo s, the banks guide the water's course, confining the river's vibrant thirst for life. And is tthe thing that confines also battered by the mighty force which is il prisoned? From its freshness and coolness comes an aura of peace ess. Who has not thrilled to the brush of the misty wake of a boat scampering over waves or to the pleasant tingle of the refreshing rain? Have you stopped at the sight of a calm pool decked in dry autumn ves, or a grove sheltering a ragged ,cove glowing in moonlight? So is life alive. Part is rugged, changing, angry, surging, powerful-ev each- erous as a whirlpool. Part is sheltered, unmoving, and beautiful as the sunset on the water. Ouachita River has bee acclaimed the second most in the United States. We are surrounded by lakes and bayous. As our high are a part of our life, so are the living waters a part of our life.
