Vg. f ai i fi f 5 s g ll , The Johnny Rebs of West Monroe came through with a 6-A-1 season record, playing the toughest elevens in the state. The four defeats came at the hands of top teams like LaGrange, Bossier City, Bastrop, and Neville, State AA Champs. The Rebels lone tie came in a rainy defensive battle against Ouachita. However, some of the six triumphs came against state powers like Ruston, Byrd, and Longview, rated seventh in the state ot Texas. At the first of the season, the Rebels had nine non-lettermen in the starting eleven. The Rebel squad was coached by Cecil Pirkey, head coach, Dan McClure, Pat Riser, L. V. Norris, and Lloyd Wil- liams. Even though heavily handicapped the Rebels had their mo- ments and proved to all just what type of fighting team they were. The Rebels, atter being knocked out of the district competi- tion by Bossier City, came back and won their last two games by impressive marks. So with a record like that it can truly be said, You fought all the way, Johnny Reb. Rebels 6 25 12 21 13 13 7 O O 21 28 SCOREBOARD Neville Homer , Jonesboro Byrd , .
