X PREFACE From the time the 8:15 bell rang in the morning until the busses left shortly after 3 oiclock in the afternoon, West Monroe High School was the scene of varied activities throughout the school term 1955-56. Often the school day ex- tended into the night with athletic events, play practices, and numerous programs in the auditorium. In its third year the streamlined, well-equipped building, one of the most modern in the state, found itself bursting at the seams as 1544 students, grades 8-12, filled it daily. The smooth, uncluttered design of the building typifies the up-to-dateness of the education offered within - an education of experiences that meet the needs of each student. The IQEBELAIRE staff hopes that in its presentation of W. M. H. S. during 1955-56 this yearbook will reflect and emphasize the modernity of the Preparation for life which West Monroe P
