One of the better floats mes 'Y OXXC Usy Last Minute Beavers The Winner Second Fiddle HCMECOMING 1956 Character Day, l956, saw the return of the traditional parade and funny characters. Homerooms were working weeks before the special day ar- rived to make their float superior to all others. Even the sun shone, a thing that seldom happens on a West Milwaukee Homecoming. Although we lost the game to Greendale, nothing could ruin the per- fect day and build-up expectations of the game. Sally Neafus and Tom Busby, We Mi Hi's Mike and Minnie, along with their court, lean Ludwig and Bob Wolfgram, and Gerry Schwegel and l-larry McCallum, reigned at the dance that evening. The decorated gym and beautiful music put the final touch on a wonderful l956 homecoming. 78 'FJ-'H 1. 5 1 The Freud Ones Members if the Ceurf dw-ng, Sally Neofqs, Gerry Schwe-gel. l N BCE WO1fQYC1m Gnd TECH Ludw' Iv ke M r' Tcm .151 Gnd Sc y Nec1f.xs 79 is 3 Www-S A in-N. But they proved them- selves capable of attaining the goals set up by sportsmanship it- self. The boys played as a unity they played a hard game and a clean one. Defeat was a challenge, but a driving spirit, a grand coach, and a great bunch of guys proved that defeat is not re- treat. They felled the small teams and the big ones, too. This season's play is to the younger crew, laid down in part by the seniors Ron Hauser, Ken Maren, and Ron Zwitter. And these boys will always be able to look back not only to the champion- ship year but to games honorably played, won, and lost. 100 BASKETBALL RON ZWITTER Senror guard Hs contrrputrons to the teams success are marked by hrs frne abrlrty to score and hrs excellence as a guard Hrs con trrbutrons are also marked by the fact that he made second team All Suburban DAVE KLAPPENBACH lunror guard Dave rs a brrllrant floor man wrth an alert mrnd and qurck hands Hrs steady progress rn controllrng the ball and especrally rn shootrng was a spark to the team when needed most KEN MAREN Senror center Kerr s herght C6 7 l contrrbuted to hrs frne work at reboundrng lay ups scorrng and prvotrng Hrs efforts were rewarded when he was chosen frrst strrng center on the Sentrnel and Iournal All Suburban Teams Ken was a marnstay to the Mustangs and hrs abrlrty can be drrectly lrnked wrth the over all strength of the team RON HAUSER Senror forward Ron s abrlrty as a rebounder can be rated wrth the best Hrs fast passes hrs aggressrv ness under the basket and hrs trmely long range buckets grve hrm the rrgh' to clarm a share of the gurntets success DAVE BREESE lunror forward Wrtn two seasons of play behrnd hrm Dave rs rn a good posrtron to rely on past experrence as hrs gurde He rs always a threat to an opposrng team because of hr gurckness and aggressrveness Dave was and wrll be a key man on the blue gold squad PETER MANCUSC lunror forward Pete starred the season slow by not seerng too much a tron .out he uldnt be hed back Especrally later rn the season rn the mo e cru ra g fn s Petes adept work under the boards and hrs lay ups he ped We Mr Hr move to the top IOHN TERESHKO lunror guard lohn wno was elevated to the varsrty later rn the season drd a frne rob wrth Coach Sonnenbergs men He rs a deadly shot and plays good control ball Another must for the 58 team BOB ZWITTER Sophomore guard Not to be ox ershadowed by hrs brother s success Bob has already garned v rsrty status He rs a good drrvrng player and has a frne rump shot He alr ady sho fs the 'naarngs of a frghtrng Mustang FRED FUNKE lunror center Fred s hard work and reboundrnc strength won hrm an early posrtron on the varsrty team l-'rs arnbrtron to make a frne basketball player coupled wrth hrs rugged reboundrng and rmprovrng marks manshrp make good chances for a 1 nrng 38 team TOM STRANDT lunror forward Tom s frrst year vrth varsrty competrtron should grve hrm the experrence every frrst str ng player frnds necessary Hustle and strll more practr e wlr de Jelop Tom rnto an even better player and a credrt to Coa h Beattres team next year 'IOI , , ,1 . 1 -- , . 1 r r 2 , . . 1 . 1 11 . . .
