The Titans football, soccer, golf, and tennis teams soon found out grueling hours of practice during the hot summer and fall paid off with victories. fiot only sports team but. . . . . the band and auxiliary groups began their practice during the long, hot days of August: however, all paid off when the Titan Marching Band made their first appearance at the annual Fall Fantasy Kennywood Parade. The rehearsing of precision drills once more made the halftime shows outstanding, and the successful season continued. 4 Summer Band BAND AND ACIXILLARY GROUPS KICK OFF FALL FESTIVITIES AT KENNYWOOD -AUGUST 26, 1985- Kennywood Parade 5 The last year for Seniors had finally arrived. The last year to act like a typical high school student, “wild and crazy”. We have renewed old friendships: friendships that will last forever. But on a more serious note, this is the year that really matters. 2 8 Blue Gold Week Finally, two months into the 1985-86 school year, we were able to let our hair down and celebrate Blue and Gold Week. This week, which took it’s toll on creating truely unforgettable memories, consisted of Crazy Day. Hawaiin Day. Toga Day. Green Day. and last but certainly not least. Blue and Gold Day. By the time it rolled around everyone needed a break, and enthusiasm spread as Titan spirit was seen everywhere. We were glad to see such a great amount of people participating in this event. Electing the homecoming queen and court was one activity in which the entire student body could par ticipate. Being a candidate, as these girls discovered, was a nerve-racking experience. At the right and below, the candidates are talking among themselves before stepping out in front of the sudent body to make their speeches. L to R: Shelly Evans. Heidi Soltis. Dionne Joseph. The evening’s activities ended with the annual alumni, homecoming dance. Heather and Glenn Bonnie and Vince Mario and Tim Brigette and Robert Leigh and Matt Sheri and Marshall-2nd Runner Up Sue and Troy-Homecoming Beth and Dennis-1st Runner Queen Up Homecoming, was a very anticipated day. Hot only for the ten candidates, but for the entire school. The pictures were taken, the waiting was done, the suspenseful moment had begun. Sheri Manns was chosen second runner-up, Beth “Bell was chosen first runner-up, and Patty Denne, the 1984 Titan Fall Fa nasty Queen, crowned Sue Si-pos our first Titan Homecoming Queen. Linda and Scott Tequilla and Bill 12 Homecoming SENIORS To the Graduating Class of 1986. As we anxiously await the arrival of our graduation day. we begin to look upon it with mixed emotions. We are overcome with relief that it is finally over. We're glad to leave the books, the homework. and the tests behind: however. we realize that we also leave behind our friends, good times, and the crazy things we did. But these special things will not totally be erased from our lives: they will forever remain in our memories. Events event that kicks off the Christmas season, was celebrated on the morning of the last day before Christmas vacation. The highlights of the event included breakfast, singing of Christmas Carols by the secretaries, and the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. As an extra attraction, a chocolate sleigh made by Lynda Lazur was given away. The winner of Santa, his sleigh, and his reindeer was Mr. Piccioni. EGG BABIES DELIVERED BY THE OBSTI-CHICKEN Events 77 The students enrolled in Child Development II participated in an adoption program from the Egg Hatch Adoption Agency (The Home Economics Department). Each of the 42 students had to agree to sign a contract and to make a safe carrier for their egg before receiving it from Mrs. Lawrence, the Child Devleop-ment teacher. The band played tunes ranging from the early jazz era to current top 40 hits. There were trumpet solos by Matt Rusk ay and Chris Hartman, a trombone solo by Tom Hiedziela, a flugelhorn solo by Mike Rudowsky, and a drum solo by Brian Selai. As an added attraction the Stage Band Singers performed separately, and, at the end of the evening with the Stage Band Dancers. These girls danced to three current top 40 hits. “Stay With Me Tonight , “Congo” and “How Will I Know”. One of the girls, Lynda Lazur, should be commended for her outstanding courage. She learned the routine the same day it was to be performed and made her first public appearance that night. All of the girls did a great job in adding the color and setting the mood for the evening. The girls had an outstanding season except for a few games. Their overall record was 13-7.
