F. The aim and purpose of the Future Farmers of America organization is to supplement training received in Vocational Agriculture towards establishment in farming or employ- ment in a related occupation to farming. The work of the FFA is centered around a printed program of work which is adopted by the chapter each year. Parts of it are indvidual supervised farming programs, co- operative activities with school, community service, leadership, earnings and savings, parliamentary procedure, scholarship 8t recreation. The FFA is a self-supporting organization accumulating funds from several sources, the management of a 20 acre school farm furnished by the board of directors, and each year a vegetable seed sales campaign. During the past year our special funds came from calendar advertising and the sale of light bulbs. During the past two years the Chapter has started a purebred swine ring and a pure- bred dairy cattle ring which are both self sustaining through the return of purebred animals to the Chapter, which are then awarded to other FFA members. Twenty-two members attended the farm show at which time the 2nd place award for the farm safety contest in the state was awarded our Chapter and at the same show the Chapter also received an award for winning first place in our area for corn pro- duction in the Penns. Crop Improvement Assn. Contest.
