A TRIBUTE TO MISS MARGUERITE CUTLAND Miss Marguerite Cutland will retire from the teaching profession this year and plans to move to California to be near her brother, do extensive traveling, and write a book. Miss Cutland will be greatly missed in the Mesa School System and in the community. We all feel that it has been a great privilege to have known and worked with her and we all wish her the best of luck in the future and hope she will plan 'to visit us often. Miss Cutland was born in Kendalls, Wisconsin; she attended the University of Wisconsin where she received her B. S. and M. A. degrees. After moving to Mesa she continued to take extra courses at the Arizona State University. Miss Cutland and her sister, Inez, began teaching in the valley in 1925. Both have been very dedicated and highly respected in their careers and as outstanding members of the community. Inez who taught for several years in Phoenix was forced by poor health to give up her teaching career.F1om the time it was necessary for Inez to stop teaching until her death 1n October 1958, she was taken care of by Marguerite. No greater dev otion possible could have been shown by one sister for another. Miss Cutland has taught homemaking, tspecializing in clothing for a total of 45 years, 34 of these in Mesa. Her sincerity, benevolence and gentility have greatly influenced the lives of her many stu- dents and added much to help them become worthwhile citizens and better homemakers. Miss Cutland has been a member of the Mesa Presbyterian Church since she moved to Arizona and is also a member of the following orga nizations: American Association of University , Women, Arizona Home Economics Association, Arizona Vocational Home Economics Associa- l tion, National Home Economics Association and the Mesa Classroom Teachers Association. eFortunate is the child who is motivated and inspired by a dedicated teacher to develop to the' fullest capacity his potential characteristics for a great service to his fellowmen - A teacher who through selfless devotion to children and youth receives the truly great rewards of life. -Dr. W. Max Chambers, President, Central State College Edmond, Oklahoma
