This year West Mesa had a large art department but it still couldnt keep up with the enthusiastic demand for art courses. In addition to the regular art forms for first to fourth year students, some teachers emphasized the making of such things as pinatas and ojos. The unique part of all was to have Crafts HI and IV participants do their own thing, especially make their own silver and tur- quoise jewelry. All equip- ment was on hand but sup- plies were short at times Students used these skills and created many beauti- ful objects such as rings, bracelets, and chokers. A i fwygx wif, us1c is the most beau tiful sound a man s ear can hear Concert Choir made beau tiful music this year Pueblo Colorado at a fes tival at Chrrstmas concerts at the district festival and of course, daily in C-42. The band also went to fes- tivals and played during as- semblies and halftime at games. Mr. Christian worked hard and made the students work hard, and the result was a very good band. Miss Mignot and the orches- tra showed their talents at assemblies throughout the year and several students tried out for All-State. 58 Academics
