Junior Council Planning and developing the theme of Woodstock for the Junior-Senior Prom occupied much of the time of the Junior Council. To arrive at their choice, the council selected three themes. The final de- cision was left to the Junior class which voted for their choice in Eng- lish and history classes. Other sug- gested themes included Color My lWorld, and Reflections of My Life? A motion passed by the council pro- vided an option to any junior inter- ested in helping the Junior class have more voice in the proceedings of the council. Any member of the Junior class could attend the meetings, and after three consecutive meetings was recognized as a voting delegate. If a student missed a meeting, he lost his voting privileges until attending three more meetings. As a result of the mo- tion, the council was composed of not only the delegates elected at the begin- ning of the year, but the entire Jun- ior class. The reason this motion was passed,', said Rick Quezada, presi- dent, was that we hoped to get more students interested in what their class was accomplishing, and also to get a wider variety of student opinion. Many students with good ideas were not elected because they were not popular. Now everyone can help make our class better. Other projects included a candy sale early in the year and sponsoring a basketball game between the Harlem Majestics and West Mesa faculty. The council hoped to have another project in the spring but it was still in the planning stages. Sponsors for the class of 1972 in- cluded Mrs. Erlinda Aragon, Mrs. Lee Bridges, Mrs. Pamela Bishop, Mr. David Swinford, Mr. Bradford Dalton, and Mr. Roy Rivera. Plans for Prom developed, membership rules changed 1972 officers are Rob Thompson, parlimentariang Jack Woody, historian, Bemice Ara- gon, secretary, Dolores Delao, treas., Leonard Castellano, V.P.g Richard Quezada, pres. Coach Jimmy Juarez blocks Al Davis of the Harlem Majestics in a game sponsored by the Junior Council. Juniors 71
