Teachers pursue varied interests during spare time Travel appealed to many teachers this summer. Mr. Sam Allred, general science teacher, spent several weeks in Europe with the Judo-Karate Club, while Mr. Orval Hughes, ROTC instructor, visited Hawaii. Traveling in a camper is th only way to travel says Mrs. Joan Kent, drama teacher. She and her family traveled throughout the states by this means. Mr. Robert Evans, principal, enjoys hunting and camping out. Mr. Joe Greigo, assistant principal, also en- joys hunting deer, antelope, quail and pheasant. Scandinavia was visi- ted by Mrs. Bridgit Regener, German teacher, who went to visit her rela- tives. Part-time work was done by some. Mr. Bob O'Neal, activities director, was an assistant principal at Highland 22 Faculty High Summer School. Mr. David Swinford worked in the camera de- partment at Globe Discount Store. Among those attending UNM were Mr. Charles Ohler, and Mrs. Vicki Bachechi. Mr. Dudley Clark, mathe- matics teacher, attended ENMU. Mrs. Mary J. Majors went to the University of California. Outdoor life drew others such as Mrs. Mary Lou Pittman, English teacher, who gardened. Mr. Graham Bartlett, physics instructor, operated Gymnastics Unlimited. Being selected as the 1970 North All-Star football coach kept Mr. Jimmy Juarez busy along with Coaches Gary Spitzberg, Jimmy Campella and Jim Spencer, who assisted him in preparing for the big game. I English teacher, Mr. George Shepperson, finds time to read the sports section of the newspaper for the latest basketball scores.
