Competing in sports, raising money, and sponsoring special projects were the main concerns of the members of the Girls' Sports Club. Girls could participate in four major sports: volleyball, basketball, track and field, and softball. Minor sports that they played were badminton and table tennis. Girls earned member- ship in the Honorary Intramural Club by being on a varsity team. To letter they had to be on two major teams or on one major and two minor teams. Monthly Playnites and Sportsday were sponsored by the club. Selling West Mesa sweatshirts was their main money-raising project. At the end of the year an Annual Award Banquet was held where the most outstanding members, accord- ing to their skill and participation, were honored.
