Varsity cheerleaders introduce spirit jug to student body 164 Sports Hey, hey, hey, hustle, hustle,', and that's what the West Mesa Varsity Six did this year. After a week of clinic during the sum- mer, these girls brought back a new style of cheering to WM. These cheers have very definite movements and seem to be the new thing in cheer- leading for the 70's. Adding to the already busy schedule of a senior, these six girls stayed af- ter school almost every day to perfect their cheers for Mustang athletic e- VCI'ltS. Along with the usual pep signs, the varsity cheerleaders made a large pennant representing the ZAAAA Dis- trict Basketball champions ofthe 1969- 70 season and presented it to this year's basketball team in a January pep assembly. To boost spirit this year's Mustang cheerleaders introduced the spirit jug and also had the traditional spirit stick on hand to present to the class with the most spirit. Varsity cheerleaders show their versatility by performing a skit at the first F all-Roundup.
