Girls show athletic skills in basketball, baseball,v0lleyball r s r 4 Warming up for basketball are Loretta Lente, Nancy Dugger, Lorraine Funk, Jane Routzen, Joyce Cummings, Peggy Garcia, Alice Pacheco, Bridget Lundy, Larraine Tennison, Juleen Rees, and Ruth Tamura. Several sports were participated in by girls this year. They included basketball, volleyball, and baseball. To participate on a team, the girls had to tryout for a sport. Once a girl made a team she was automatically entitled to membership in the Girls Sports Club. After the teams were choosen the girls practiced everyday after school. When the season got under way, they played teams from other schools. Darlene Gurule, Thelma Johnson Marsha Lundy, Arleen Sanchez, and Pam Schneider practice rebounding for the next game. Trying for a basket is Kathy Jordon while Ronnie Silversmith guards and Diane Dow and Mary Brazas look on. Sports 161

The 1970-1971 B-team cheerleaders are Patsy Schleicher, Sharon McBride, Marilyn Arias, fbottomj Patty Chavez, Laura Mader and Diana Valdez. Colts promote spirit, paint signs for games, assemblies Patty Chavez Sharon McBride Laura Mader , Head ' 3 Patsy Schleicher Promoting spirit at games and assem- blies kept the colts busy this year. The colts cheered at all B-team games, both at home and away. To perfect their cheers, the girls prac- ticed many hours after school. They also painted signs to announce their games. To raise money, they sold candy canes in December and Mustang pens at the beginning of the year. Sponsor of the colts was Miss Helen Cacciatore. Marilyn Arias Diana Valdez Sports 163
