V alia C 12 Although each class expressed pride, all seniors, ju- niors, and sophomores joined to help make West a better school. Sophomores enjoyed the excitement of orienting into high school. Juniors Worked hard in planning for and Working on decorations for the Junior-Senior. They sold Christmas cards to finance an unforgettable prom even- ing. After receiving long-awaited class rings, seniors strove to obtain more privileges. Graduation climaxed twelve years of involvement and education. 4 Seniors attend their first class meeting in the cafeteria to discuss sug- gestions for the Senior Class gift. Through involvement, stu- dents gained experience, Worked together, offered ser- vice, and accepted responsibilities and obligations. Activities gave students satisfaction through Working together. Each club specified certain activities in ad- dition to inductions, field trips, service projects, and lectures. Service clubs gave students a chance to serve. Senior Jennie Mozeley stops to purchase gas from Mr. Fulkerson at Fulkerson's Sunoco Service located on Little Rock Road. Junior classman Joel Adams inspects various types of Fix-It Items in stock at McClure Lumber Company. local firms support 19 1 annual with advertising Local businesses expressed their confidence in the 1971 Tomahawk by purchasing advertisements from business staff members. This played an essential part in the publishing of the annual. Staffers began their duties in the summer. In addition to creating interest in activities of West, members served as public relations agents. Posters and announcements to encourage the ordering of yearbooks began early in the year. Annual staff mem- bers also sponsored an annual signing party at the end of the year. guild Possessing a wide variety of food, beverages, and snacks, Chuck's Drive-In is a favorite place for refreshments. Business manager Jennie Mozeley explains to members of the business staff how to write up advertisement sheets.
