SHA HARUDIN A student who comes from the Far East, who is familiar with the four malignant scourges of mankind--poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy, finds America to be the most attractive place to seek refuge. But a student from Nlalaysia, whose country is young, who aspires freedom and alle- viation from these misfortunes finds America a source of hope and aspiration. This is evident at West Linn. Though most of you are un- aware of the blessed fortunes, you exhibit the beauty of freedom and the value of liberty. In addition, West Linn seems, since the day I arrived, to approve of me as one of her students. I can never forget the bursting cheers accorded to me by the Student Body. What is more cher- ishable is the warmth and friendliness of the students toward me. Foreign, but unforgettable to me, is the brimm- ing spirit the students display during the football games. Football, pep assemblies, and homecoming dances are a few of the images that are etched in my memory of West Linn. l'm proud to have West Linn as my American Alma Mater. I will find it to be most painful to depart from West Linn when the school year ends, but as the saying goes: some may come and some may go. l may go but I take with me pleasant memories of my stay in West Linn. --Shahurudin

. x N l PARTICIPATION Involvement is the cornerstone of this year's student government. We have di,vided the representatives' terms into semesters with the purpose of involving more students, stated Student Body President Eddie Dierickx. The Executive Council, through its own spirit and participation, has promoted class competition in the Trash Clash, Student Council, the clothing drive: and the WI-OC rivalry. They also initiated the Class of the Month and the Class of the Year. The spirit and participation exhibited by the Executive Council spread through the entire school. Executive Council, we thank you for a great year! ce T9 Treasurer Leslie Wievesiek PfeS'de ' Eddm Dlermkx
