, X 9 e Hzlltoppers End Season 5-3-1 CONCORD-After battling with Concord through 3 scoreless periods, WLS ex- ploded in the final stanza to record a 14-0 victory. Top- per scores came when Lou Piccone returned a punt 50 yards and later when Chuck Bowers bolted over from 5 yards out. W. VA. STATE-WLS was knocked from the ranks of the undefeated as powerful W. Va. State edged them 7-0 in the Homecoming game. Yellow Jacket halfback Ed Lee scampered 52 yards for the only score. BLUEFIELD - Lead by quarterback Jerry Fato's three TD passes, the Hilltoppers belted Bluefield State 26-6. WLS scores came when Fato hit Ken Holmes for 34 yards, Jim Borst for 45 yards, and Dave Holland for seven yards. Lou Piccone also scored when he hauled in a Bluefield punt and streaked 45 yards to pay dirt.
