A vesper service welcoming freshman opened the year for the Student Christian Associa- tion. Speakers, discussions, and worship have been the activities ol' this Protestant religious or- ganization. The group has visited the Childrens Home ol' Wheel- ing, sponsored Lenten devo- tionals and a spring retreat. The Thanksgiving Assembly and campus-wide Christmas earoling were projects ofthe S. C. A. Dr. W. Wallace Cayard is sponsor of the organization. The Rev. Rich- ard Bowyer, minister ol' West Liberty Federated Church, has assisted. NEWMAN CLUB It is the goal of the Newman Club to supply the basic spiritual needs of the Catholic studentsg to form a complete character, religiously and in- tellectually. This goal is the Catholic Church on campus. It sponsored Mass every Sunday, reci- tation of the Rosary, a visit to an orphanage, and varied lectures. The Newmans are under the di- rection of Father Richard Norris, their chaplain. Don Carney served as president and sponsoring the club were Dr. Mary Elizabeth Cox and Mr. Albert M. Blatnik.
