CHEERLEADERS AND MAJORETTES Leff fo righf: Pal Gregory, Barb Maseda, Jaclcie Wallace, Shirley Ossi, Joyce Spade- fora, .head cheerleader. MAIORETTES Leading the West Liberty State College Band was the job of these four majorettes. The girls partici- pated, along with the band, in the Homecoming festivities and in the Christmas parade in Wheeling. For the first time, the majorettes were selected from the whole body ol' girls instead of only those in the band. This year the maiorettes were hostesses to the Weirton High School Band at Homecoming. CHEERLEADERS The best supporters ol' all the teams are the five cheerleaders. They back the team through all losses and victories. The cheer- leaders have a constitution stating rules for themselves and future cheerleaders. Joyce Spadafora, head cheerleader, was named Outstanding Cheerleader at the West Vir- ginia lntercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. They are also honorary mem- bers ofthe Varsity Club. DENTAL HYGIENE CLUB The white cap with a lavendar stripe, which is the mark ol' the professional dental hygienist, is the aim of every girl in the dental hygiene club. Cleaning, polishing, and X-raying teeth prepare the girls for their future profession. This year the club held a sock-hop, sold tooth brushes, and had several picnics. The second-year Dental Hygiene students attended at convention in St. Clairsville, Ohio, held by the Ohio Valley Academy ol' Dentistry. The annual show which featured a New Orleans theme highlighted the year. Miss Pauline Brine, director of the DENTAL HY- GIENE cleparlmenl, caps Kitty Lou Clark. The cap is significant of one year's training in lhe Denial Hygiene program.

HOME ECONOMICS CLUB The Home Economics Club, attempting to promote better homemaking and happy family relations. has had at successful year. Under the capable leadership of Marion Pyle, members published a student directory, sponsored a party for pre-school children, sold souvenir SOCIOLOGY CLUB The Sociology Club, organized during the first semester, is one ol' the youngest clubs on campus. The organization is composed of students who are interested in the study of the societies of the world. Since there are no Sociology majors, this organization is open to all interested students. They have had many interesting programs and debates during the year under the guidance of their spon- sor, Michael Kupersanin. ash trays, and attended the state conference at Jackson's Mills. Monthly, professional instructors lectured or demonstrated to the members and guests such arts as Christmas decorations, hair styling, and current fashions. Miss Areta Hicks sponsors the club.
